Yep, in fact today is meant to be the start of severe weather spring season here in AR. Today was intended to be Tornado Drill practice day, but given yesterday's weather they have put it off until tomorrow. March through  May are usually the worst, and the secondary severe season starts in the fall.  The all-time largest outbreak of tornadoes across Arkansas came on January 21 1999. There were 56 confirmed tornadoes across the state. The hardest hit areas were near downtown Little Rock and Beebe. White County, where we are now, was hit by several different tornadoes. There were 8 fatalities in all from this outbreak. There was also an outbreak in north central and northeast Arkansas a few days earlier on the 17th. While no fatalities occurred, there were seven tornadoes in Jackson County alone, with eight tornadoes total.

ARKANSAS TORNADO DRILL -- Thursday, March 2nd at 10 AM

In place of our standard NOAA Weather Radio test on Thursday, we are planning to send the test out as a tornado drill for Arkansas. We encourage you to take this time to practice your tornado sheltering procedures. The Weather Radio test will be sent with instructions for practicing a Tornado Drill at 10 AM on Thursday, March 2, 2017.**

Note: For the tornado drill script (in PDF) to be read during the test, click here.

**The tornado drill was originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 10:00 am. The drill was cancelled due to severe weather.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Cdneh must live in Big Rock...

Close, we are north east of that. It's about an hour, depending on traffic.  Higginson which got hit, and Kensett are about 5 miles from here.

Big Rock. Uh huh.

Sure did sound like it. The wind was terrific, and I could hear the hail hitting the windows on the front of the house. Can't have been big hail, as there isn't any damage.  There was one loud thump on the roof over the office, and I found a heavy branch laying out in the back yard. That must account for that. The power only flickered a couple of times, although the satellite tv went down. I've got a little tablet I use for traveling, so I was able to carry  on watching the coverage on that.

My Mother in law is in Florida until tomorrow, and she called about midnight, all panicked. When she tracked down her cell last night, she had 23 messages asking if she was alright out here, and if she was, could she go int the church where they were housing about 10 families for the night.

We're all fine. I keep an eye on the weather, and I have a weather radio, and a good app on the phone. Been a nice sunny day today, but still very windy.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

It's windy here too. For the next 3 days...

Seems the whole mess is moving off to the north east. Keep an eye on it.

If I founded my own state, I'd call  it North Rockota...

Friends of mine in the UK named their house, as you do. Sheila told me it was only called Windyridge because Robert wouldn't let her call it FartingFord. Whatever floats your boat :)

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

There's a lot of bugs and virus going round and it's hard to stay out of the way of all of them. I hope you don't get sick. Being sick sucks.
