Part of the problem is that I used graffiti cleaner on the advice I found on line and while it did take the spots off, it rubbed the paint deep into the pores of the brick.  It looked perhaps worse.

I'm leaning towards blue.  The house diagonal from us is a very pretty light blue with yellow and the house next to us is turquoise... so it might work.

Coulda shoulda woulda.  The pressure washer did get off some of it, just not enough, yah know?  We are probably looking to replace the whole stair/arch/column unit in the next five years.  The concrete is breaking down, the bricks are not in the best shape, and the wood is partially rotten.  It is just kind of a big project that we don't have time for right now and we'd need to draw up something that could work in place of the existing thing.
