Stopped by the veterinary hospital where Old Cat was euthanized 2+2+1 years ago, to thank vet man.

Vet pretty much retired but pops in now & then, learn we man.

We shall e-mail hospital for forwarding to retired vet, do it that way man.

Mini-B. remembered Old Cat despite having been only 2x2x2x2 months old, memorable wee man.

The MIL has had two falls in as many days. She tries to get down low to pick something up or put something down, and hasn't got the strength in her legs to get up again. I fished her out of the garden yesterday, which is lucky because I didn't even know she had gone outside. This afternoon she was trying to put something in one of the bottom cupboards in the laundry, and toppled over. No harm done yesterday, today she has a two inch long gash I've just patched up on her hand.

 

I'm going to get out the baby monitor I had for my Husband pre-transplant, and put it in her room. She won't like it, but whatever. I've also activated the little beep on the house alarm so I will know if she goes outside again without saying.

 

My Husband heard her crash, and leapt out of bed thinking it was me, so for a few minutes they were both on the floor, about 4 feet apart. He can't get up and start moving in a hurry, or he falls.

 

A vacation. Oh yes indeedy. Now works for me!

I'm unsure why they can't provide her with someone to look after her or put her in a home where someone can.  Honestly the fact that you're having to run around after both your husband and your mother in law constantly, must be emotionally and physically draining.  I'd be like seriously? why do you keep bending over you stupid woman? next time i'm gonna just leave you there because you're an idiot.  How many times do you have to fall over before you realize this is a bad idea?  If it's more than twice, you've lost your mental capacity.

All cleaned up and laying in bed, stomach full, long drive home, I think my back hasn't hurt like this in about 10 years...It's frozen stiff!

She was slated to go to a place here in town, called The Crossings. She was there a couple of years ago after her back surgery for rehab. Loved it, and agreed to go. But, under her insurance she does not qualify. If she falls and breaks a hip she will. Seriously.

She is too well off for most of the programs on offer. She'd have to pay her way *gasp* and she would never agree to that. She plans on leaving everything she has to her grandsons. This week anyway.

The only person who has POA is the useless daughter, and she won't tell her Mother to wise up, sell the house, and go into assisted living. She thinks that her Mother has already got that right here at home, with me, so why pay for it.

She has lost her memory, well short term anyway. I think she doesn't really remember she shouldn't bend down until she does.

Some progress tonight, she actually was seen walking around with a cane. I never thought I'd see the day. The Home Health advisor suggested a walker, but apparently she thinks that is a bridge too far. She will fall, and she will do a NOF. Maybe that is what it takes to wake a couple of people up.

 

It is very tiring. I worked in the garden this morning, trying to get it ready to plant once the weather goes through Thursday, so my back was already unhappy with me, before I had to haul her dead weight to her feet. All I can do for the moment is carry on, really. It sucks, but there I am.
