It's sunny here too, but only 64 and very windy. We never got above 54 yesterday, and it rained and was very windy and raw. Our local weather guy actually gave us a windchill number yesterday, of 42.

Seems summer was last Thursday, from 0930 until 1545.

Wednesday Mexico report, see man:

Flew to S. Texas, south we man.

Morning weather surprisingly cool, cool man.

Rental car = a This-Year Hyundai Elantra, nice wheels man.

Dropped suitcases at motel (a Super 2x2x2), no rooms available yet man.

Drove to & across border, not far man.

Found parking-space, courteous Mexicano helped man.

 

Dropped 2+2 shoes for shining with boleador, shoeshine dude man.

Donated sangre de gringo (American blood) at medical laboratory, cheap tests man.

Got hairs cut ($2+2+1) from guy who used to live where we do, small world man.

Thorough clean-teething/whiten-teething for only $Many, sore mouth but Pepsodent smile man.

 

Retrieved gleaming shoes, blinded our eyes man.

Retrieved laboratory results, healthy gringo man.

Had first meal of day (at nearly Many p.m.), huge plate for only $2x2x2 man.

Got ears flushed for only $Many, probably half of U.S. price man.

 

Greeted many Mexicanos/Mexicanas who know us, amigos/amigas man.

Made rounds of stores/pharmacies, many of both man.

Picked up stuff for us, Mini-B., & Mrs. T-B., deals man.

 

Weather became quite hot by 2+2 p.m. man.

Started to tire, tiring we man.

Visited one last store, scoring on favorite shampoo (got all 2+2+1 bottles) man.

 

Returned to rentalmobile, sit in A/C man.

Got Many (2+1) double/Manyple turkey/cheese packaged sandwiches at convenience store, dinner man.

Total for those = under $Many ($2+2+2), steal man.

 

Exited POE through CBP, no trouble man.

In-checked to motel room, made beeline for shower man.

Called Mrs. T-B. to report that we had been kidnapped by narcos, joke not appreciated man.

Ingested 2 of the Many turkey/cheese sandwiches, save the Many'rd for breakfast man.

Briefly inspected large shopping-mall, efficient hour spent man.

Watched late TV news, groggy we man.

Sleep like an illegitimate male child, zzz we man.

Thursday Mex-Tex report, see man:

Awoke as planned, somehow de-zzz man.

Morning weather again quite cool, bonus man.

Popped back to Mexico to buy 2+1 forgotten items, ADD we man.

In & out in half an hour, efficient we & CBP man.

 

Had a great Many hours to kill before scheduled flight, that was OK man.

Drove to last remaining KMart in entire region, sadly dropping like flies man.

Inspected a GS, bought nothing man.

Looked for another advertised GS, phantom man.

 

Visited thrift stores, shop we man.

At one, we scored 2+2+1 dress-shirts & Jos. A. Bank jeans for total of $Many ($2+2+2), utter steal man.

At another, we found T-shirts/muscle-shirts for Mini-B., all of which he wanted wee man.

Luggage now completely full, no more room man.

 

Late-lunched at eminent Mexican restaurant in town, ingest heartily we man.

Decided to mosey to airport, 2+1 hours early man.

Upon arrival, learned that our flight was delayed half an hour, depart not till 2x2x2 p.m. man.

The flight before ours was Many (2+1) hours late (!) and was just arriving, amazing man.

Airline agent said, "I'll get you on the earlier flight, which boards in 2+2+1 minutes," si man.

We walked into the casa exactly when we'd have been boarding the original flight, serendipity man!

We got that rain here all right...

Since Saturday last week, we have 6.5 inches in the rain gauge. No more now until next week. There are floods in the state, some places cut off, and part of Pocahontas was evacuated. Local weather guys on about the river cresting past the flood stage in various places.

 

I am not keen to work in the garden, but I kind of have to get busy out there soon. Too wet today, and I dislike working in the wind and wet.

 

The MIL is no better, but no worse. She is expecting the 'home health' nurse sometime today, to take her BP.  Spends her day in front of the TV playing patience on her Ipad, and watching home improvement types shows. Unless there are same sex marriage couples, or black couples. Then we go to Hallmark. 

 

I thought I might give USCIS a poke in the backside, nothing from then since November. I cannot file a query, or make an infopass,  I get weird error every time, on different browsers and on three computers. I'd have to call them, and I really don't want to spend hours on the phone. So, back to waiting.

Cinco de Mayo margaritas on the agenda for tonight with a good local friend. Sorry to hear about the rains in TX. Other than a very late seasonal heavy snow day last Saturday, we're having a typical dry Mayo.

 

Anyone have any experience with Murphy beds, also known as wall beds? The Colombiana has set up full shop doing her treatments and massages for customers in the extra bedroom which leaves no room for a guest bed. Wondering if a Murphy bed would work in this room. They start at $900... eep! And really only a couple of manufacturers offer them at this price. Most go for $1,500 and up. Kind of worried that if I buy a $900 bed, if might find that it is really cheap in construction and look. Don't really see these on Craigslist. There were a couple available in Colorado Springs but that's a 5 hour drive. Wondering if I should just buy the hardware for around $250 and dust off my limited wood working skills and build a frame for it.

You can get a Murphy bed kit from about 300 bucks. Use your own lumber. 

They're popular in NYC. They're good.
