Yeah, United might be the place to shop for bargains in the future. Just wear a hockey goalie mask in case they drag you out of the plane.

The older boys work and one is in college and their rooms are not kid safe.

Would be too much disturbing on both ends.

Maybe time for the young men to find places of their own, eh?

I booked United to Orlando before the incident.

Maybe I should waited now that no-one wants to fly United?

Should have booked Delta, up to 10k if they bump you!  They've been super great about this in the past and I've seen them up the bidding until people take it.  United needs to learn some lawsuit avoidance from Delta...

That United thing has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever seen a company do.  Drag people off the plane rather than offer a few hundred more in compensation?  Someone would have taken it if the price was right.

Craziest thing I've seen them do. Why the heck would they not make it worth a person while? It's going to cost them much more in the long run.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

And whatever flight attendants, gate agents, and supervisors thought this was a good move?  F for customer service scores in their reviews.

The people that did the dragging are airport cops. Port authority.

Well, they were ordered to remove a person from private property and he did refuse.

If I were a cop, I would have told them that it wasn't going to work, but what are they suppose to do?  Refuse to remove him?

I stopped flying United over a decade ago after so many fiascos with being stranded after delays and cancellations and them not giving a flying f about getting you home.

Sunday night flying from a final hub airport to a smaller city can be pretty tough. I used to fly into Chicago on Sunday evenings from different destinations and then make that final leg to Dubuque, Iowa where I lived for 3 years. I watched as American Airlines offered $200 then $400 then $800, and no one would bite on those offers. The reason is you lose almost an entire day of your life. If you don't make that 9:50 pm flight, then the next flight is 11:30 the next morning. You can pretty much kiss off a day of annual leave - and that's okay only if there isn't something that's absolutely critical to do at work on Monday. More often than not your whole work week is screwed because you weren't in on Monday. No, an $800 airline voucher isn't worth that. I know I made that decision at least twice.

Chicago to Dubuque is only a 3 hour drive - 2.5 late at night. But the problem is you can't get a decent rental car at that hour, and who wants to pay drop off charges once you arrive. There are no buses. There are simply no alternatives.

Seriously, the United thing was a situation caused by a total lack of vision. If they were smart, they would contract with Uber drivers, load up 4 or 5 people in a car and drive that final leg. I'd imagine that all the airlines are looking at alternative solutions at this point.
