There is an interesting argument to be made in terms of pressure about not completely waterproofing a basement for structural integrity especially when the walls are not as strong as they could be.  There is also a good argument that with clay soil, outside french drains might not work long term.  At the moment, the water is coming in at wall junctions.  

 

The outside waterproofing of the wood walls will happen later this year or maybe next.  

 

This is a win in that my floor is dry and I don't have to stand in a puddle to do laundry.

The walls in your house doesn't have to be that strong in compressive strength, it's one story, there's no weight to it. 

But the earth puts side pressure on it. 

I wasn't talking about structural integrity. But rather, comfort. 

 

The older lime-based mortar, and some older and current Portland-based cements, are designed to wick water vs. blocking it. The newer type-s portland cement based products are designed to keep water out. 

 

If you go to like the HD near you, they'll have only type-s products now.

Almost just one month to go before I see my husband. Down from three months.

I see people complain for having to wait ''3-4 months'' before their cases are accepted/processed, and here I am, getting ready for at least 7 months. Oh well. 

I'll keep myself as busy as I can in the meantime!
