WCG has to make 2 or even Many more round-trips to pick up his do-it-WCG's-self metal roofing, flatbed hauling man.

However, he saved $Many,000 by purchasing/transporting in this way, therefore justified man.

So tired.

I took the MIL to her follow up with the Doc yesterday.  I gave him a piece of my mind, the little I could spare. Here we are, again, having spent another weekend in the same condition she was admitted. All the discharge notes advise was that there would be a stress test in a month or two, possible a stent. Not good enough. He agreed with me, but he couldn't offer anything other than a further admission. He doesn't have admitting privileges anywhere else other that the local revolving door. So, who does? Cardiology? Great. Get that man on the phone and get him off his bottom, enough already.

Flurry of phone calls back and forth. She could have come home and waited, she could go back to the local hospital, she could go to Little Rock and see a proper cardiologist.

She opted to come home, until I reminded her she would be on her own. My Husband had his sleep study booked for last night, also in Little Rock. That appointment took months to get, and as far as I was concerned, it was not negotiable.

So, home in a flurry, pack him, pack her, saddle up the dog because now she had to be boarded overnight, and almost get out the door when her minister rolls up. Nope, can't go yet, he has to pray over her, and lay hands on her in his best old time revival tent style, and all of that nonsense. I am not a religious person, and I must say this god-bothering nonsense gets right up my nose. I am afraid I wasn't terribly polite when I asked him to wind it up, we were out the door.

All the way down there, in a terrific thunderstorm, poor visibility and heavy rain through construction zones being my absolute favourite thing to drive through, and I am getting back seat driving instructions. Complaints that people kept ringing her, and it is terrible how  word spreads so fast in a small town. The only person that told anyone was my MIL. If you don't want people ringing you every 10 seconds, don't tell anyone. And turn the darn thing off. Tell one person what you want half of the county to know, and let them pass it on. They don't all have to speak to the horse's mouth.

Stuck in traffic for half an hour with moaning minnie in the back seat, watching the time tick by. We had planned to leave at 19:00 for an 20:30 appointment, but due to this detour we had to get on the road by 16:00. And leave enough time to find a bite to eat for dinner.

We skated in the door for my Husband's appointment with 5 minutes to spare. He flunked hugely, she says his apnea is severe (no kidding). After less than two hours she was back in the room, and over the next few hours tried three different masks on him. As I thought, she couldn't get a good seal on any of them. Bless his heart, he tried to fall asleep,  but every time he started to drift off, his lower half mandible drops and his mouth falls open, and the machine starts to woosh which made him cough and choke, and he was awake again. So he got two hours, such as it was, and I got none.  We were back on the road at 06:00, and I waited around here until 08:00 so I could rescue the dog. I guess there was quite a storm locally too, and she's no fan of that.

After 25 hours on my feet, I was too tired to sleep, so will try this afternoon. She's rung me half a dozen times to tell me that she is going to have a stent late today, or early tomorrow. Frankly, I don't give a rats. I don't even feel particularly guilty dropping her off and abandoning her once she was admitted.

I rang her daughter to tell her what was up, and all she wanted to talk about was her retirement party coming up on Friday. In future, if she wants info she can call her Mother herself. If she wants to know what is really going on, she can call me. I'll make book I never hear from her again.

Hugs for me. Seems like your life is neverending story of not so funny things :(

Money isn't my main issue. It's more one of wear and tear.

She is well off, very well off. Too well off to benefit from any sort of help for the elderly that I have found. I don't know why, but in her family all the inheriting that goes on, has gone down the distaff side. Maybe a response to the practice of primogeniture common in their earlier history. She got hers from her Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and so on back until the year dot. What she has goes to her charming Daughter. I think there's going to have to be a change up before long, her daughter has no children. All the MIL has are grandsons, her one other son had children, but they are Mormons, and she doesn't care for that.

She had a policy with a  care option for her Husband, and always moaned about how she should have had it kick in earlier. "he upped and died before I got my money's worth out of it". She has the same policy for herself, but it's "way too soon to enact it" she says. He had a caregiver come 3 days a week, who was meant to look after John while she went about her business. The poor woman was lumbered with all the cleaning and cooking while she was here as well. I think she is of the opinion she will hang on to that for when she needs more care, or moves into assisted living. In the meantime, she has me. She knows I will keep the place up, in fact with my Husband being immune suppressed I pretty much have to. Works out well for some.

He had his radical neck dissection for cancer in 1984, a hemimandibulectomy and hemiglossectomy. They will pretty much do a reconstruction of the mandible at the same time these days. But then, they didn't offer, and in fact told him all they had done would give him 6 months at best, so he should go out and get his affairs in order. I spoke to his surgeon, still in business after all this time, a few years back. He was absolutely staggered that this patient of his was still alive. They had a great chat for an hour or so, but he conceded there wasn't anything the would have done then, given his life expectancy.  At this late date, there isn't anything they can do by way of reconstruction, it's been too long. He learned to speak again, which was something else they told him he would never do. He learned how to eat and swallow on his own as well, but always under observation in case he chokes. He's done well, considering what he had to work with. I don't believe if there was anything they could do he would submit to further surgery. It's his decision, and I'm cool with that.

None of this will last forever. It's just all a bit overwhelming now and then. Thanks for all of the ideas, I'm still hunting down those because I know I look like death warmed over in orange. Still too young to go to jail for life :D

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Had a brouhaha with Mrs. T-B. this morn, she argue with we man.

All applicants for the rental casa are offering under the asking-price, cheap they men.

(Because r-casa has been vacant for Many months, they probably think that we're desperate, pffft man.)

She thinks that we should accept it, wimpy she man.

Conversely, we think that if it's open to negotiation, with multiple bidders, we can raise the asking, see man.

She has threatened to call our r.e. agent to make him do what she wants, menacing she man.

Technically, we are the sole owner of the r-casa, predate she man.

I don't own anything orange. Sorry :D

Then I am in trouble. This morning well older than she is.

But, getting younger by the minute. She has chest  pain this again morning, and SOB, and her BP is back up. They may keep her. I tried on the phone to make her understand that this was a good thing. Better hospital, better docs, they can arrange consults from all specialists. Even Gerontology.  She agreed, but she usually does, and then goes her own way. We will see. I've told her to ring her Daughter this evening.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I wouldn't settle for less than  you have to get. I don't know where you are in Texas, but some areas I hear are booming, or are about to. I have a friend from NZ, now living in OR, and she and her husband are looking at moving to Texas this year. He has lived there before, and he cannot tolerate the West Coast weather another year.

Market is obviously telling you something.

Rental houses in my town are usually snatched up the same day if they aren't ridiculously overpriced compared to the median home price.
