Congrats. Don't open the envelope haha.

As to one way or round trip, it is up to you.

We used one way, and a lot of people here have also.

Alot have used round trip as it was cheaper than one way. Just set the return date to Nigeria like 6 months out. Then cancel it 3-4 months from now.

It all depends on you and what is cheapest or works best. Either way is fine though.

Technically, you only need a one-way ticket for a K-1 as the intent is to marry and remain in the U.S. either as a permanent resident or by acquiring citizenship.

However, some airline officials are not aware of immigration law.  My fiance was not permitted to board his flight without having a return ticket.  He called me in tears from the airport in Brazil, and I had less than an hour to go online and find and book a return flight before his flight took off.  He barely had time to board the plane before they closed the door.  I don't want to frighten you.  I just want to make you aware of the possibility so you won't be surprised at the last minute.

Good luck on your journey!

Only a one-way ticket is needed. However, as some have noted, not all airline personnel know about immigration processes. If you decide to do the return flight option, then be 100% sure to cancel it after entry into the US! People have had issues with AOS/EAD/AP because USCIS thought they left the US.
