Ok, this was our original addendum to 34a. What should I change? Should I add actual specific dates?

"I met my finance on free social site, few months ago,and have been in everyday contact since then, visited her in October  " That was my explanation of meeting and it did fit on form in those three lines ,with out extra attachment . Government forms is just business. My, passed !! :)  I would be under impression that those office workers want to get trough your form fastest possible with out getting in unnecessary personal information.

I am having a ridiculously hard time getting my tax transcripts for my affidavit of support.  In theory, US tax payers can access their tax transcripts online and print them for free.  A few weeks ago, I went to the IRS website and put in all of the information they required: my full name, my address, my SSN, an e-mail confirmation code, and my phone number.

IRS: We cannot verify your phone number with your phone company.

Me: ???  (I have a regular cell phone through a major carrier in the United States.  I have had my current cell number for three years, and I used it for the last few years to file my taxes, so the IRS should have it on record.)

IRS: We cannot text you an authorization code because we cannot verify your cell phone number.  We will mail you an authorization code in 5-10 days.

2 weeks later, I received my authorization code in the mail.  I went back to the IRS website to log on and enter the authorization code.

IRS: Your password is incorrect.

Me: No it isn't!  I saved it in Safari!

IRS: Your password is incorrect.  You have failed the secret questions.

Me: What secret questions?  You never ASKED me any secret questions!

IRS: Your account is locked permanently.  Hahahahaha.  Also, your mail authorization code will no longer work because it is associated with your locked account.  Hahahahaha.  Also, you cannot request a new mail authorization code for 15 days.  Hahahahaha.

Me: ARGH!!!!

While I was waiting for the mail authorization code to arrive, I also requested paper copies of my tax transcripts, so hopefully those will be coming soon.  I am also going to call the IRS on Monday.  If you are the petitioner and you don't have your transcripts yet, hopefully your cell phone number will work and you will be able to access them online, but I would start trying early just in case you run into problems.

I had this issue a few months ago to show my work history unrelated to the visa process.  I called and I waited on hold

for 2 hours and they faxed it to me.  They will not email it, but the fax was received right away.   I have an eFax account with my own personal fax number and I gave it to them and they sent it without any issues.

Hearing all these "horror" stories is scary and I get a pit in my stomach.  The  joy at reaching the next stage of approval and one step closer to finally being back together again for good, is tempered by a anxiety of knowing what comes next and doing what is needed - properly.

We just found out our petition was approved at NVC, and sent to the embassy.  So now I am exploring and scouring websites for information about what comes next, and what we should do to get prepared ahead of time.

Good luck to those in the waiting process, and Congratulations to those who finally have their loved ones to hug!

Omg hahaha that happened to me too! IRS couldn't verify my phone number with my cellphone carrier then it locked me out.  Had to request a code via mail which took exactly one whole week! After I entered the code, IRS was able to verify me.

I would just include a reference to it on the cover letter, and say something like "The Tinder Terms Of Service are enclosed." in your existing addendum.

One last question... All of that won't fit in that tiny envelope they send us... Should I a) drop some documents, b) force them inside or c) get a proper A4 envelope and trash theirs?

Happy to report that the paper copies of my tax transcripts arrived in the mail yesterday.  I am very impressed with how quickly the IRS sent them to me.  I am planning to make photocopies of them soon; for now, they are tucked safely in my affidavit of support file.  Thanks to everyone who offered support, sympathy and encouragement when I was frustrated!  You all make this process so much easier.  :)

Ok, I have a question of my own now, because I think I've confused myself.

We never received any hard copy notice from NVC, just the NOA2.  So I called and checked in with NVC after two weeks, then again at the end of week 3 (Friday).  I was told that they just processed it and sent it off the the embassy that very day.   So...I was under the impression that my fiance would receive a packet in the mail telling him to schedule his interview, gather certain paperwork and get his medical exam.

But, when I just went on the ceac site and checked our NVC status it says:

Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.

Um, what? I thought Dani would have to call to schedule it?  How can we be sure he will be available on a set date? (He is working up until he is approved and scheduled to come back to the US.)

Thanks for any advice!

If it won't fit everything, then I'll refer to the threads below stating that a regular envelope is fine (but include the existing on inside for reference).

Is the return envelope that small? I planned to just take whatever they give me and put it inside a Priority Mail document document envelope for mine anyway.

That appeared on mine too. Wait for the status that says "Ready". That means it has already arrived at the beneficiary's US embassy.

It will depend on the embassy though how they process the K1. Some send out a packet giving instructions on how to proceed with other requirements and interview schedule. Some do not send a packet and everything is done online.

I suggest to research on how they process the k1 application once it reaches the beneficiary's us embassy. :)

Hey, I get your frustration. I had the same problem with my cell phone verification. I ended up going to my local irs office (luckily it wasn't too far from me) to get the tax transcripts on the spot. You have to call them ahead of time to make an appointment if you want to get it that way. The gentleman who helped me told me I could have requested them by mail or fax but I was desperate to get them ASAP at the time.

Hey everyone:) Just getting ready for the next steps for this long process. I was wondering how many tax transcripts do we need? I thought it was only for 2016 if you already filed your taxes. Am I wrong?

For the I-134, most embassies only look for the most recent tax filing year. A small handful of embassies go by the I-864 guidelines even for the I-134, which require 3 years. Either way, you will need 3 years for AOS, so it's probably best to just get them all now and not have to worry about it later. They're free, and besides the page after page of verification questions asked, I was able to do it all online just now in well under 10 minutes.
