I am having a ridiculously hard time getting my tax transcripts for my affidavit of support.  In theory, US tax payers can access their tax transcripts online and print them for free.  A few weeks ago, I went to the IRS website and put in all of the information they required: my full name, my address, my SSN, an e-mail confirmation code, and my phone number.

IRS: We cannot verify your phone number with your phone company.

Me: ???  (I have a regular cell phone through a major carrier in the United States.  I have had my current cell number for three years, and I used it for the last few years to file my taxes, so the IRS should have it on record.)

IRS: We cannot text you an authorization code because we cannot verify your cell phone number.  We will mail you an authorization code in 5-10 days.

2 weeks later, I received my authorization code in the mail.  I went back to the IRS website to log on and enter the authorization code.

IRS: Your password is incorrect.

Me: No it isn't!  I saved it in Safari!

IRS: Your password is incorrect.  You have failed the secret questions.

Me: What secret questions?  You never ASKED me any secret questions!

IRS: Your account is locked permanently.  Hahahahaha.  Also, your mail authorization code will no longer work because it is associated with your locked account.  Hahahahaha.  Also, you cannot request a new mail authorization code for 15 days.  Hahahahaha.

Me: ARGH!!!!

While I was waiting for the mail authorization code to arrive, I also requested paper copies of my tax transcripts, so hopefully those will be coming soon.  I am also going to call the IRS on Monday.  If you are the petitioner and you don't have your transcripts yet, hopefully your cell phone number will work and you will be able to access them online, but I would start trying early just in case you run into problems.

Hey, I get your frustration. I had the same problem with my cell phone verification. I ended up going to my local irs office (luckily it wasn't too far from me) to get the tax transcripts on the spot. You have to call them ahead of time to make an appointment if you want to get it that way. The gentleman who helped me told me I could have requested them by mail or fax but I was desperate to get them ASAP at the time.

Wow...glad you mentioned something!  I didn't know there was a difference between "returns" and "transcripts".  I'll have to look into this for myself too.

You can use either copies of tax returns or transcripts. If you send the tax returns, you need to have your W-2's and any other additional forms submitted when you filed.

The tax transcripts are a one page statement of what you filed with the IRS, making the transcript the preferred document. It is easier for the consolur officer to glance at the information. In the case of my fiance, now wife, the officer at the Manila embassy did not look at the financial info. We did use the transcripts later when filing for Adjustment of status.

As you'll notice from @geowrian's report there are still over 260 cases before the 25th that have not yet been touched.  As has been discussed many times in the several hundred pages here and on the first November filer's thread, they tend to process batches of dates not each date individually.  They haven't 'left' the 32 cases - they just haven't processed them yet.  There are still people waiting from the 31st October - and I am sure we are all keen that those cases, and the early November filers, get processed soon.  It is possible that some of these are sitting on someone's desk whilst they are away on holiday. Think of your case as being in the late November 'batch' rather than the individual date.  Late November cases are now being processed quite quickly so the 25th November cases shouldn't take too much longer.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. It really helps me thinking that we're not the only one left :)

@geowrian or anyone here

Any way to track case reports before the ones you are tracking "WACs from WAC1790048000 onward"? I have a case number in the (WAC1790009XXX frame and am still waiting on approval. Here is our info thus far and we are wanting to know what is going on

initial file- 10-4-16

RFE 11-2-16

RFE received from CSC 12-8-16

I tried to submit an inquiry but the system says my case is within normal time. I am seeing alot of people who filed in OCT,NOV and Dec time getting their approval letters already and we are getting worried now.  Thanks for the info

I have my interview on Friday.  I don't have Aaron's tax transcripts.  I have his 2016 W-2, a letter from his employer, a letter from his bank and recent bank statements.  As I understand it, the requirments vary from embassy to embassy - London seems to only require one proof of income as supporting evidence for the i-130 - and in the embassy reviews on VJ, even when the embassy asks for tax transcripts, they accept any other evidence of income instead.  I recommend reading the embassy reviews to find out what other filers have said in terms of their experience in Canada.  I have fretted a few times over various pieces of evidence only to discover I don't need them.

Deep breaths :) this is the good bit - another step! xx

I don't believe there is anybody tracking cases prior to Oct. 31st right now. If somebody wants to take it up then they can, but I don't think a daily (or even a weekly) update will do much to estimate when those remaining cases will be processed. The data being provided here doesn't really provide an estimate for any individual case...it gives members an idea of how many cases and what time span is being focused on. I like to use an 85% confidence level that a case will be processed within a 3 week timespan personally, but that still means there's a 15% chance of any case being outside that timeframe.

When did you submit the inquiry? You should be just over the 5 month mark now, so it might be possible to get an update. You can also contact your congressperson to submit an inquiry on your behalf, too.

Mind if I ask about the nature of the RFE?

Ok, this was our original addendum to 34a. What should I change? Should I add actual specific dates?

That sounds good to me. I would just add that Tinder is a free dating app where individuals can meet others nearby and message each other. I think most people know this, but it can't hurt. It might not hurt to add in the TOS, too: https://www.gotinder.com/terms

Where would you add those term of use? In the addendum to 34a, making it a 2-3 page long letter, or in a seperate... addendum... to an addendum...?
