Uhm well did you try to get in contact with NVC? I believe at that point you should have it. At the end if I'm not wrong the most important letters are the NOA2 (that I believe you'll need later on for the AOS) and the one that gives you access to the embassy the day of the interview. If I'm wrong someone correct me!

Hi Diana,

I didn't receive any letter from the NVC as well, but I did receive an e-mail from NVC after I inquired on their site regarding my case. However, is there a reason why you are waiting for the NVC letter in particular? Isn't it enough proof that your case have been received and forwarded by NVC because it's already in the embassy in Venezuela? In any case, if you really need to have a confirmation from the NVC, you can send them an e-mail through this site https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php. Hope this helps.

Hi Vince! Thanks for your response. I don't need it for the interview or medical (I think) but I thought it was weird that we didn't received the letter since almost everyone in this thread has received it. But as long as I don't need it for the AOS I think it's ok, there shouldn't be any problem then :)

Yea, I guess I was too focused on squeezing out our case number from NVC that I didn't notice that they haven't sent me any letter of confirmation. But like you said, it shouldn't be a problem for future filings.

We never received anything from the NVC.  I have now had my medical and have my interview next week - but still no letter from the NVC.  I don't think it matters as long as everything else is in order and that you get the letter from the embassy.

My fiancé called the NVC today and they said that our case has arrived, but they haven't processed it yet.  They told him to check back on Friday (one of us will check tomorrow) and they will have a case number for us.  Yay!  I know there are a few people with a February 16th approval who are still waiting, so I thought I would pass along the good news.  If you haven't called for a few days, you should definitely try tomorrow or Friday. :)

I have sort of a specific question for you guys but am hoping someone might be able to help! My fiancé is a permanent resident in Canada and his PR card expired in October of 2016. He applied to renew it in July but it is still in progress (?). Will this be a problem when we go for our interview in Montreal? He will have his current Grenadian visa as well but as he lives in Canada I'm not sure if it will be a problem. He applied for the renewal before we got engaged so it's complicated having two pending but I'm just hoping it won't affect our visa!

Sorry but I can't help with Canada's visa process. However, in order to obtain an immigration benefit at an embassy, you must have legal status within that country. If he currently has no legal status, then that will probably be an issue. I just don't know Canada's laws regarding status during a renewal. In the US, having your green card expire does not mean your status expires, but Canada could be different with how they handle LPRs.

Thank you for such a quick response! I'm pretty sure Canada handles status during renewal the same way as the US as he is still able to work, travel etc within Canada. My question isn't so much about the PR card process but about the us embassy seeing it as a problem during his interview for the K1 visa.  I know they will look at his passport and am hoping to avoid any possible issues!
