We sent in our response to our RFE and our case status was changed this morning to "Response to RFE received" (my American fiance has a criminal record. Our RFE asked us to list his specific charges and include court paperwork if the charges were related to IMBRA, which they are not.). Once this happens, is there a general idea of how long until a decision is made? Could they send out a second RFE or do they go through the whole petition first, and send only one out asking for everything they need?

I have a question and maybe someone might be able to answer it. My fiancé will come from Bosnia (hopefully soon), and we want to have a nice honeymoon. I would love to go to the Bahamas or one of the islands. He won't have his green card for a while and I was wondering if we would be able to travel to one of the islands or should we just book something in Florida? I'm praying that we all get to be with our loves soon! ??

The average from my data from RFE received to a decision is about a week. I've seen an approval as early as 2 days afterwards, and some took over 2 weeks. It really depends on the nature of the RFE. A missed checkbox is simple. Having to review court paperwork would take longer than that (but not as long as other issues). Yes, they can send out a second RFE, but usually they only do one RFE before making a decision from what I've seen and read.

Once you get married and send the adjustment of status (AOS) paperwork, typically 1 - 3 months (could be more though) after you send your AOS your fiancee will receive their Advanced Paroll (AP) card. There is extra paperwork to be filled out in order to get the AP card though, make sure you do that.

AP cards allow spouses (fiancee now, spouse at that point in time in the future) waiting for their green cards to leave the country and come back, BUT keep in mind, that they can deny your spouse entry in the United States even with the AP card. Safest bet is to stay in the US until your spouse receives the green card.

Well...
There used to be a pile of 6 of us "case was received" together, of those 6, one was approved yesterday (case right after ours) and one got an RFE today. I know this essentially means nothing, but maybe then again it means something?

*wishful thinking*

Its less than 50% approved... dunno if thats a good news or bad cos total is still more than 100 approvals. What if they are sending RFEs even when not required to slow process down n prevent many ppl entering usa in d current scenario. Just saying cos a person here got an RFE for requiring letter of intent when he alrdy had sent it... there's no way this process of RFE could be trusted much as i dont find it transparent.

Are there any discrepancies in RFEs asked when the petitioner was sure thats not a mistake they did?

I posted this on the London K1 thread - but it might be useful for medicals in other countries too...

Although i had my most recent Tetanus jab within the past ten years (and had this on my record), I didn't have evidence of my previous tetanus jabs as my doctors only have records for the past ten years (I think this might be when they computerised them) - so when I went for my medical yesterday I had to have another tetanus jab as I didn't have a record of THREE tetanus jabs.  MY DS 3025 was then signed off as waived/complete - so it was better for me to pay the extra £40 (ouch - as painful as the jab!) than to try to get the evidence from my own doctor and risk having to go through another medical in the US.

I had my MMR about ten days ago, my flu jab a week ago, that tetanus at the medical yesterday - and my left arm looks like a bruised pin cushion.

I would emphasise that if you have been treated for any condition to which you have ticked 'yes' on the initial questionnaire - make sure that the medical summary from your own doctor includes dates, diagnosis, medication and duration of illness/issue.  My letter was too vague and I have had to go back to my doctor to ask them for full details and ask them to fax or email it to the clinic this week before the clinic forwards my results to the embassy in time for my interview next week.  This is an added stress I wasn't expecting.

How do we check when nvc received our petition?

You usually call their hotline to ask for your case number (1-2 weeks after your NOA2 was approved). If you have your case number, you can follow the status on the CEAC website.
