Hi isabelleyri -

I struggled with this bit, too! The CEAC case tracking website is where you track what is up with your NVC case. It can be found here:

https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

So the next step is to be tracking your case, to see when it leaves the NVC, and arrives at the embassy or consulate. You can submit the DS-160 at any time after receiving a case number, but some people opt to wait to submit it until they know their NVC case has reached the embassy/consulate. Also, the CEAC tracking website is a few days behind - it'll be the middle of next week before you can actually find your case on the CEAC tracking (until then it will just say "invalid case number"), and it shows "in transit" or "arrived at embassy" also a couple days later than it actually is mailed or arrived. What I have found is the most accurate is to call the NVC every three days or so just to ask them has it been sent yet, or has it arrived at the embassy yet, and that person can look directly at your case online (you just provide your case number, you and your fiancé's names, and the beneficiary's birth date) and tell you a more current status than using the tracking link above.

Every country is different, so I can't tell you what to expect next for Singapore; for the UK, we needed the NVC number to schedule the medical. But the next thing you should get in the mail will be in several weeks, a letter from the embassy/consulate outlining the legal steps, and the American petitioner should also receive a letter from the NVC with the case number. Many people do things before they receive the letter (once they have the case number) - like schedule the medical, or submit the DS-160, etc. But it may be different country to country, so I would go check out one of VJ's Singapore-specific forums for the next steps following getting an official NVC case number.

Thank you so much for this very comprehensive answer @fishe23a! Such a big help ?

Will go look for Singapore specific threads in the forums. Thanks again!!

Hi!

Yesterday my visa application status changed to "In Transit", but I'm trying to track the package in the DHL web page and it doesn't appear any package with destination to Venezuela. What can be happening? :( Am I doing something wrong?

Not necessarily - sometimes the package doesn't register on the dhl site - or even leave the NVC until the day after - or - as happened in my case, when it showed as 'in transit' it had already arrived at the embassy!  As yesterday was a Friday it is possible that it might not show on dhl until Monday or Tuesday.

Guys I have a question as you are talking about flight tickets, and I see that the thread is very active and a lot of smart users are here. I am February filer (beneficiary) and I was in US when we send our petition to Uscis, but now I am back to my country. We filled the part of I-129F Form, which asked for my I-94 number and claimed that I am currently is US, which was truth because I was at the moment of filing. But they probably wont look at the petition until later, so my question is if we should send them my boarding passes as a proof that I left USA? Can that be a reason to RFE? Because my visa was valid until Feb25 and I came back on Feb20 so they may think I am still there, or maybe they can just check online by my I-94 number and check that I left already? What you think?

they can almost certainly check your departure in the system as you gave them your passport number on the i-129F if you were still in the country when you applied.  I don't think you have a problem.

Well I found at the DHL tracking tool that NVC sent a package to Venezuela on Wed 02/22. Hope its mine. Do you guys think that maybe they send the package on Wednesday 02/22 but the just update the status yesterday 02/23? It's the only explanation I can think of

Yes very possible!  That's what happened to mine.

I was in the US too when we submitted the petition. I stayed only for 3.5 months and I could stay until this month. There were no RFE's. You're fine. ?

Hello everyone :) Is it okay to undergo medical exam one month prior to the interview schedule? I was seeing from forums that it should be at least a week before the interview.

yes - as long as it is within the time frame before the NOA2 expires and is AT LEAST one week before your interview it doesn't matter if it is longer than that

10) You might be able to register online for your interview.  You might also get a big red message on the screen telling you YOUR CASE IS NOT READY!  WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? DID YOU READ ANYTHING ON THE PREVIOUS SCREENS ASKING IF YOU HAD YOUR LETTER FROM THE EMBASSY YET? NO YOU DIDN'T! GLORIA IS STILL ON HER TEA BREAK AND HASN'T EVEN WRITTEN THE LETTER YET SO WE KNOW YOU HAVEN'T GOT IT.  GO AWAY AND COME BACK WHEN YOU CAN READ THE SCREEN BEFORE THIS ONE! Or something like that
