so on the noa2 when it says it was forwarded to the listed consulate does it still go through the nvc?im looking at a noa2 from one of my friends and mine looks so different

Yes. All I-129Fs will go through NVC. I have no idea why some NOA2s are saying it will go to the consulate without mentioning NVC, but they are still going through NVC.

Hello everyone! It's been so long since I posted here :P I will be having my interview in 4 days. Hopefully all goes well!!

Anyway, I just have a question regarding some booboos I made in the DS-160 I submitted online.

1. I made a mistake with the zip code under Travel Information>Address where you will stay in the U.S. In the zip code, I typed 96421 instead of 94621 (this is my fiance's address)

But in the part of U.S. Point of Contact Information>Address of point of contact I put in the correct zip code

2. In Family Information: Relatives>Immediate Relative in the US My sister is a permanent resident there and already finalized her divorce last December. So I put her maiden name (before marriage). But I recently asked her if she has already done her name change but apparently she hasn't!!! I had already sent my DS-160 at this point :o

Will I have any issues related to these errors? Do I inform the consulate regarding these errors in my DS-160?

Unfortunately it can take up to that timescale and the workload of the person with your case.

we were 14 days exactly after they acknowledged they had received our evidence back!

Good luck!

Hey Guys..

After my K1 now there's another important step I need to do. Arrange for B2 Visa for my family(parents and sibling) to attend my wedding in the US. I have following questions , whoever has gone through something similar, please help and guide.

Please keep in mind this is my families first trip abroad.

Ques 1: They are saying in DS160 that reason to travel is Daughter's wedding. My fiance will send an invite letter for the wedding as well , and we will also show a confirmation email from the hall and priest booking. Would this work fine? anything else needed?

Ques 2: Should they book their hotel in advance to show that as well for checkin and checkout dates based on date of our wedding?

Ques 3: In DS 160, there's a quesn "Any relative in US" They would have their daughter i.e. me, once I am in US, but not at the time of filling the DS-160. I'll be travelling to USA betwene their filling of DS160 and their interview. So should they say Yes or No when submitting DS160?

Quesn 4: Should I also send any invite letter or only the US petitioner(fiance) should?

Quesn 5: My fiance stays in City A right now (all his docs have address A) but we're getting married in City B (as we might relocate in future so we wanted to register the marriage in that city. Should be choose PoE as City A or City B for ease of visa interview? Would the officer cross question if petitioner doesnt have any permanent address in the city of marriage?

Thanks a big ton for all the help :)

  1. Just a wedding invitation is really sufficient IMHO. Invitation letters are likely to do more harm than good. They don't need to why they're visiting so much as why they will leave. Just saying why plus a wedding invite is should enough reason to come. I don't see the harm in providing the confirmation email as well. In general, the more you provide, the more likely they are to imply a support network in the US.
  2. As noted above, I think the reason to come to the US is covered already. Hotel bookings aren't enforceable. So if they do get hotel bookings, then just be sure they're refundable.
  3. I'm going to punt on this one...I really don't know. Normally you answer exactly as is the case when you fill out the form. I'm just a little worried that saying "No" may make the CO question their credibility if that's no longer true at the time. And the other issue with saying "Yes" is if, for whatever reason, you cannot make it to the US before their interview, it also wouldn't be correct.
  4. As noted in #1, invitation letters are more likely to do more harm than good.
  5. It shouldn't matter (albeit some POEs tend to be a little nicer than others...check the reviews on VJ). I'm assuming you meant for entry and dealing with CBP...your visa interview is over already. lol This is assuming the final destination on your tickets/boarding passes is City A.
If your final destination is anywhere else, they may question why you're going there when they have no record of him being there. I doubt it would really matter, but may raise some extra questioning.

Affidavit of Support questions before interview:

1. For Part 3 #38 if you choose "I intend" to support the person named in Part 2...how specific were you in Additional Information? I would like to write, "I intend to fully provide for all of my fiancè's needs until he is employed and able to contribute." Is that ok?

2. Did you put N/A or None or literally write nothing on lines that didn't apply?

3. If you make a little over $50,000 annually is it necessary to provide bank statements?

These were also my questions when we were filling out the I-134.

I did a little research on the forums and found a lot of threads discussing this particular item. From what I have read, most crossed INTEND and on the last page (8 of 8), put the petitioner's name and on #3 you put page number 4, part number 3, item number 38 and below you explain that it is "N/A (K1 Visa Process for Permanent Residence)"

It would be better to bring bank statements (of both petitioner and beneficiary) just in case the people at the embassy ask for them. I have read cases where the consulate asked for the statements.

slightly off the K1, have a question about filling ds-160 for my parents. (this is very confusing :(

To the question as 'Do you have any relative in US', if I say 'Yes', and answer for my parents is 'Daughter', (i.e. ME)

What should I mark as my status? Options are citizen, Legal PR, Nonimmigrant and other.

I am slightly confused between Nonimmigrant and Other, as K1 technically is a nonimmigrant till i adjust my status. and wedding is only AFTER my parents get their B2 :)

Please help.
