It's been 7 months since this journey started with my petition.  The interview at embassy was today & I was starting to see the light at the end of this tunnel. Sadly the tunnel has gotten longer.  They are requesting information/ documents I can't provide. I am a Native American living on a reservation & our marriage plan is different than what they are asking for.  Proof of vendors, officiant, etc.  I would like to marry on my reservation but will marry off if that's the only way.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Wahh Im sorry about it, but can you explain your case more details for us? Did the C.O give you a chance to submit more supporting documents, or they just denied?

Yes, normally NOA2 is valid for 4 months. It's stated on the hardcopy of your NOA2. Hence, your deadline is July 23. However, the Embassy has the authority to extend its validity for another 4 months. All you, or your fiance, should do is just contact the Embassy, preferably by email, and ask them to extend your NOA2. You don't have to give a specific reason, just mention work or family circumstances that require you to stay in your home country for a longer time. If you do that, you will have plenty of time to prepare for your TOEFL. Please remember that statistically, people who take TOEFL the second time score 10 points higher on average. They do better just because they get familiar with the format of the exam. I hope this will encourage you!

Don't listen to anybody on the Internet whe tells you that your faince doesn't love you just because he wants you to succed on TOEFL and go to school. To me it's a sign of maturity and realistic apporach to life. Let's be honest. Love is important, but bills must be paid, and two incomes are better than one. Only you can know who is right for you, and who is not. Do yourself a favour, make an effort on your TOEFL. Even if this relationship does not work out, you lose nothing. Your knowledge and TOEFL certificate will remain with you.

I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Hi,

First of all I just wanna say thank you for all advices and support that you've been giving me.

Do you have any idea of how I can write an email to the Embassy, asking them for an extension for my NOA2?

Thanks in advance.

You have to call NVC after about 2 to 3 weeks of approving ur petition, to get ur case number. I advise u call them on the non-immigrant line coz its faster to get thru than when u call them on the immigrant line. You cannot use USCIS number on the CEAC website, u have to have a case number given by NVC

Just an update to the visa processing timelines.

Interview date - 3 May

Ceac case updated - 3 May

Ceac case created - 9 May

Case updated - 12 May - Administrative Processing :(

(This was followed by a few emails and phone calls to embassy help)

16 May - Case Updated - Issued :)

Now waiting for the status to change to Pickup so I can officially culminate this journey....

Note : This post is only to tell that please dont panic if the status shows administrative processing. Sometimes reasons are not clear, and unless you're given 221, you should be fine :) You may email your embassy with the query after waiting 3 business days from when the status changed to AP.

All the best!! (F)

Visa Issued 17th May. Picked up 18th May! :)

Exactly 5 months after NOA1.

Best day of the journey and what a relief!

Now I can say that yest the journey is hard and the wait is frustrating at best, but just hang in there and slowly the train moves towards its station...

You'll get there.. Just make sure be extremely nice to your fiances through this journey cos the wait is hard for both of you. (Some people just dont show! but it is :) ) Make these moments count cos once you're together this waiting game wont be around anymore and no more anticipations and waiting for calls and texts :)

Another thing - keep all documentation in order, prepare and rehearse for the interview. Research the stuff, reach the venues on time, and just breathe and pray and it'll all be just fine.

Loads of best wishes to all the lovely couples out there! (F)

Has anyone ever heard of turning in your medical report to the embassy BEFORE the interview instead of the day of?

Usually the medical center will be the one to send the medical report to the embassy directly, not the applicant. And the consulate will have the report on hand during the interview. So the report should be sent before the interview. It might be a cause of delay if the report is sent during or after interview day. But your question is quite country-specific so might I suggest looking through your fiance's country's thread regarding this?

My interview experience yesterday on May 22nd, 2017

My appointment was at 8am, but I had to go through some stuff like: the scanner, finger print. It took so long that when my number was called to go to the window number 4, it was a beautiful Vnese lady who was asking me to give her the copy and original paperworks, then the medical exam, and affidavite of support packet. She was asking me some simple questions, like: who is your petitioner, did you get amrried before, did he get married before, do you have any children, does he have any children, what does he do for living, are you a member of Communism, have you ever been outside of the country, did you stay over 1 year in those countries. And she told me that my paperwork was done, then wait for them to call my number again at the window number 14 to 20.

I was waiting until nearly 11:30 when everybody left accept 5 people in the room with me lol. My number was called at gate 15. There was a black American guy who was handsome and had a beautiful smile haha, and a beautiful vnese lady standing behind him. He asked me if I could speak English, and I said yes. He told me to raide my right hand and swear that I would tell the truth. I did.
- When did you meet?
- You mean "in person" or something?
- Oh no, when did you know each other, like what year?
- In 2015
- So how did you know each other, on online or something?
- We knew each other through an dating app named Okcupid.
- And when did you meet in person?
I showed him our couple tattoo which had a date and location where we first met.
- September 25th, 2016.
He was a bit suprised and laugh out loud, he was asking me again if it was a date that we firdt met. I confirmed. Then he said: "Haha alright, your visa was approved!"
I was shocked because it went so fast I didnt believe that I made it. He said: "Have fun in Salt Lake". I thanked him and the lady a lot, he also asked me the last one before I left: "Have you ever been to Utah?". I said: " No, I havent. But I have heard that Utah is a very beautiful state.". He noded his head and said: "Yes Utah is a very beautiful state". I said thank you and may him had a nice day.
I waled out to the Ems counter to fill my information on the form, they will send my pp with the Us visa on it. It was about 11:35 am when I stepped outside of the US consular. It was not a dream. I called mom and aunty and my friends, I called my fiance and he was super happy. We smiled a lot that it hurted our faces. Before I called him on skype, I texted him: "Bad news that you have to buy a big comfy mattress because Im going to come there soon!" Hahaha.

Thank you everybody here who is a part of my family. I never have "American dream", I only have a dream to be with the love of my life. Our journey is just begun...

Hi Chi, i assumed your ppst directed to my situation so Im gonna reply :P

I don't have a screenshot of notice. I called NVC to ask for my case number and was informed that it starts with MNL#. I told them that there is something  wrong it should be HCM#. So NVC rep adviced me to send them email to asknvc@state.gov Subject line: MNL#XXXXXXXXXX- Embassy Change. For Body part: Including Principal Applicant Full name, DOB; Petitioner Full name, DOB; explaination of request to change Embassy.

So I did what she told me... but I dont feel sure that the NVC will take action fast ...

After talking to my fiance, I told him to call NVC again. This time another NVC rep told him to send email to asknvc@state.gov. For subject line put: Attn PI SUPERVISOR SUE- Case #. For Body part: including applicant's info (full name + DOB + phone number); petitioner info (full name, DOB, phone number); request for embassy change.

After couple hours, NVC replied to my fiancee's email inquiry and my case was be able to change to HCMXXXXXXXXXX

What a relief. I figured the Subject line "Attn PI SUPERVISOR SUE- Case #" is a expedited inquiry.

I could be able to change Embassy because: 1. My NOA 2 didnt state which Embassy will be forwarded to (I assumed NVC mistakenly input wrong Embassy for my case in their system); 2. My case is still at NVC; 3. I sent an expedited request.

Hope it helped someone else who got into the same situation as me <but i really wish not; it was frustrating :P>
