Tracking your case on CEAC it is non-immigrant right?

Seems like it as it asks to pick my embassy location.

Use the Immigrant portal, u wont be asked to pick embassy location. u are asked to pick embassy location when u are using the Non-immigrant portal

My passport is expiring on May 2018.. it's a year from now. I already have my nvc number and ready to schedule my interview. Would

it be best to renew my passport before the interview or can i do it after the interview? Or is it possible to renew it in the US? Planning to leave by August..

I have the same problem. I think you should renew your pp first before filling out the ds160, less trouble. I didnt do that because I wanted to book the shedule as soon as possible, but my plan is aftfer the interview, I will renew my pp and still keep the old pp with Us visa in it.

I just know a fact that renewing Vnese pp in the US costs lots of money and time and they (Vnese people who are working for the government in the US) want to steal more money from us.

Just wondering.... as a beneficiary attending the interview, should I wear my engagement ring to the interview?

I don't mind but for some reason I don't feel comfortable wearing something so flashy outside and walking on the street when everyone else sorts of dresses down. I don't live near the consulate so its not like I can just hop in a car and be home in 20 minutes.. but it consists of taxis and trains to get home from the consulate. I am probably just overly paranoid but I don't like drawing unnecessary attention with flashy things + fear of getting robbed. Granted it is 1 carat (not like the Kim Kardashian ring :P) but people get robbed over smaller things like a cellphone. My country/city is not unsafe but better safe than not.
I don't want the consulate wondering why I don't have a ring on (although I'm sure there are people going thru K1 that do not have a ring yet).
But if it is a positive, then I will!

ALSO, should I get a copy of the receipt for the ring? I don't want to ask my fiance (petitioner) for the receipt if I don't have to because to me it feels like someone bought you a really nice "gift" and you're asking how much it is. I know the circumstances of this is different and we both know it is for the K1 process. I know he'll send me a copy in a heartbeat but I don't want to ask for it if it isn't needed. At the consular interview stage, would they ask for things like this or is the ring receipt only for front loading the application in the initial stage?

Any "two cents" would be greatly appreciated :)

A ring / ring receipt isn't evidence of a bona fide relationship. Those in a fake relationships and scammers can get a ring just as easily as a real couple. It is (IMHO) evidence of intent to get married, though. Normally the intent to get married is satisfied with the letters alone, but there are a handful of cases (usually in tough embassies) where the CO has said he/she doesn't believe the people will get married in accordance with the visa's terms. So if you didn't have a ring, it's not an issue. But if you do, it won't hurt to flash a little bling his way. ;) haha But safety is #1....if you don't feel safe taking it there, then I wouldn't worry about it.

It's been 7 months since this journey started with my petition.  The interview at embassy was today & I was starting to see the light at the end of this tunnel. Sadly the tunnel has gotten longer.  They are requesting information/ documents I can't provide. I am a Native American living on a reservation & our marriage plan is different than what they are asking for.  Proof of vendors, officiant, etc.  I would like to marry on my reservation but will marry off if that's the only way.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Just an update to the visa processing timelines.

Interview date - 3 May

Ceac case updated - 3 May

Ceac case created - 9 May

Case updated - 12 May - Administrative Processing :(

(This was followed by a few emails and phone calls to embassy help)

16 May - Case Updated - Issued :)

Now waiting for the status to change to Pickup so I can officially culminate this journey....

Note : This post is only to tell that please dont panic if the status shows administrative processing. Sometimes reasons are not clear, and unless you're given 221, you should be fine :) You may email your embassy with the query after waiting 3 business days from when the status changed to AP.

All the best!! (F)

Thanks for the heads up!😎
