If you have your NVC MTL#, check on the CEAC website if it says "Ready":

https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

If its "Ready" you can go ahead and download packet 3 from the Canadian embassy website here:

https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/

The awesome thing about Canada, the Packet 3 process can be downloaded online, and you don't have to wait until the paper copy arrives in the mail.  The Packet 3 instructions will show you everything you need to know, including starting and submitting your DS160.

My fiance just had her K1 Visa interview last week in Montreal, and I attended with her.  We were happily approved.

If you have any questions regarding the process for Canada, feel free to message!

Good luck!

Thanks for this info! I just checked and a message popped up saying our case was "In Transit" and "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center". Is this just a generic message or has an interview date actually already been set up??

Your case is not in the Montreal Embassy's system yet.  You can't submit your Packet 3 information yet until your CEAC status reads "Ready".

If you desire, you can still work on your DS160.  You can fill out your DS160, save it, add to it later if you wish, and submit it when your CEAC status reads "Ready".

Also, the Montreal Embassy doesn't set up your interview as in some other countries.  You are correct to say this is a "generic" message of sorts.  After your CEAC status reads "Ready", you will download Packet 3.  Packet 3 will request you email return these items:

* Copy of your DS160 confirmation receipt

* Copy of your Canadian Passport biographic page

* Packet 3 checklist signed and dated

Once you send these via email, you will receive a return email called "Packet 4".  Packet 4 will give you instructions on how to schedule your K1 Visa interview, pay for your K1 Visa, and how to schedule your medical.

Feel free to download and read the Packet 3 instructions.  It will reinforce the information I just provided.

Hope this helps!

We were not able to get our NVC MTL# until about 4 weeks from our NOA2 approval.  Apparently, Canada does things pretty slow.  Although, the process getting the packet 3, packet 4, scheduling the interview and the interview itself was pretty straight forward.

Good luck!

I took four weeks? Well, I am a little bit relieved, I was starting to think that there is something wrong with my case, even though the uscis lady told me everything was in order.  Thank you.

Hey all!

For those who have filled out the i-134 and included an answer to the real estate question do you have to include proof someone of that real estate? If my co-sponsor put their real estate value (house) do they need to show proof of that? If so, what kind of proof is necessary? And will that need to be included in those additional questions on page 7 where you can explain stuff?

My fiance has his interview coming up and I'm getting nervous that I've included everything correctly. Thanks in advance!

Yes, proof of any assets used must be provided. For liquid assets, that's the letter frpm an officer of the bank (or potentially they will take a suitable amount of statements instead). For stocks/bonds, they need evidence showing the owner, current value, etc. (possibly even a professional portfolio appraisal for stocks), etc.

For real estate, they would need a copy of the title deed (or other sufficient papers to show ownership of the property). That would cover ownership, but not value. For value, they would need sufficient evidence that they could sell the house within 1 year for $x. That could be through an appraisal. If there is a mortgage or are any liens on the house, then evidence showing this should be presented as well. Or if not, evidence showing that there are none should be provided.

From the I-864 (since the I-134 does not specifically mention real estate in the instructions)

"You may include the net value of your home as an asset. The net value of the home is the appraised value of the home, minus the sum of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. If you wish to include the net value of your home, then you must include documentation demonstrating that you own it, a recent appraisal by a licensed appraiser, and evidence of the amount of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home."

The evidence would be included on separate sheets form the I-134 itself. I don't think anything needs to be noted on the I-134 itself (just like any other support evidence).

Edit: A tax assessment can also be used in lieu of an appraisal, assuming it is recent (in my area, they were generally last done several decades ago until just 3 years ago, so they were wayyy below current values).

So I noticed that they changed the date of the cases they are working on to November 15th, so I decided to call. The guy was very nice and went ahead and did a case inquiry for me even though we have an RFE, its still out of normal processing times he said.

For those still waiting for an NOA2 even if you have an RFE, if your receipt date was on or before Nov 14th you may now call if you choose do make a case inquiry. They will supposedly send you something within 30 days.
