Thanks... :)

so maybe im not supposed to read the general instructions on the website :) they must've clubbed the instructions for all visas.

Also, why do they need an agent again? the details are already specified in the petition.

Where do we choose the agent? And if we dont choose any is it the petitioner or beneficiary by default or the case is put on hold?

Has anyone out there done this step or maybe its not applicable to K1?

You chose the the "agent" right there. Its just to give them a major person to communicate with. As I understand, they won't process the case further before you did

Guys im slightly confused. The travel.state.give site talks about 6 steps after the case is at NVC

6 steps at NVC

This says the first step as 'Choose an agent' . Whats that??? :(

Also, Whats the DS-260 form?

Sorry but its getting too much to process. Those of you who've reached the interview stage already and passed that, please help and guide..

Thanks so much :) (F)

That's for immigrant visas. K-1 is a non-immigrant visa (despite NVC treating like an IV). K-1 doesn't need an agent and doesn't use the DS-260.

It's not really it being overly general instructions so much as that it applies to a different class of visas.

Per the I-134:

"if you are not a U.S. Citizen based on your birth in the United States...answer the following as appropriate."

So if the sponsor is a USC by birth in the US, then nothing in Part 1 for #11 or #12. No need to proceed if any other case is also met (i.e. also having USC parents).

If the sponsor is a USC by birth to a USC parent but not born in the US, then fill in 11.b and check the box. Also fill in #12.

My 35th birthday is this Saturday and we would appreciate prayers for an approval for my birthday.  I've made 5 trips to South Africa and each one cost between $1,200-$2,200 on a teacher's salary and that's just the flight, not hotels, or any entertainment.  Blessed to have made the trips as I know many are unable to do the same, but financially ouch.  He has almost lost his life several times and one of the closest calls was last night.  He and I had said goodnight and then I missed a call from him.  He had gone on a late night walk unable to sleep, thinking of and missing his love.  I called back and immediately he started running and screaming.  I didn't know if he was ok or what was happening to him.  He lives in an extremely dangerous township in SA and where they burn people alive (to give you a real clear picture of the violence) and he witnessed a man he knows being mugged.  While others did nothing he called out and ran after the man.  He had a knife to his throat and because my love called out he got away with the man's keys, phone, money, and wallet...but his life was spared.  The kept thanking him for saving his life.  He helped him to his feet and took him back to his house.  Today that man is still thanking him.  Many nights there are protests or the Toi Toi are singing in the streets before doing something violent.  We've witnessed stabbings, muggings, and while 95% of the people are HIV positive almost 100% are drunk 100% of the time.  It's insane, and the rape statistics leaves me speechless.  He's the pastor and electrical engineer.  This community was our mission field and has been his for 11 years.  Helpless I call on my Helper nightly.  I could have easily seen and heard my love shot to death had the man retaliated.

@visamountain what township is he from, and yes south Africa has become very very dangerous this is the reality of living here.

You are fortunate to see him as you like when I see my love it will be 8 months to the day of sending our file in.

I am in embassy stage now and just waiting for her employment an bank statements and I can schedule an interview.

God be with you and may you be approved.

The puzzle of life fits in to each other at the right time :)

Hello Everyone,

My fiancé (beneficiary) lived in the US for a year for work and I misinterpreted the statement of "residing in a country for more than 6 months" I took it as him being a permanent resident, but I believe I was mistaken.

Our application has arrived at the Embassy in South Africa and they use the words "lived in".  Most of the counties here require the person to be present when requested their local police clearance.  I'm quite unsure as to what to do next as he cannot fly back to the US to obtain police clearance.  I was able to go on the State of Georgia's website pay a fee and I received confirmation that he's never been arrested.  Do you think that this will suffice?

Do do you guys have any advice or suggestions as to what we may do?

I'm feeling super bummed 🙁

Thanks

no need to get a police certificate from the US.

"Note: You may need police certificates from several different countries/localities. Be sure to obtain all of them prior to the interview. Police certificates from United States are not required." That's the info written on my embassy's website regarding police certificates. Must be on yours as well, you might've just missed it
