@geowrianWhen getting transcripts does it need to be accompanied by W2s and 1040? Or can my fiance send me just her transcripts itself

I think it depends of each country, because Caracas Embassy send an email saying I should submit forms W2 and 1040 with the affidavit of support, so maybe you should call or email your embassy and asked them :)

Thanks for the input...it's amazing how different each embassy handles things. But just to confirm, they said to bring the W2 and 1040 along with a tax transcript (not the tax return)?

What is a tax transcript and how do I obtain one?

The transcript is an official record from the IRS of what was actually filed. You can get one from the IRS website...either via download or having it sent by mail.

A tax return is just a piece of paper that you may or may not have actually sent to the IRS, so that's why they generally want to see the W2 and such. The tax transcript is what the IRS actually received and processed.

This is what the email says (in spanish):

Thanks! Yeah, it doesn't say transcript, so the 1040 and W2s would be good to bring as well. I think the transcripts would work, but I'd go by their instructions.

Finally!!!

I sent it back and was received 2 business days later, then approved 2 business days after that. The average is about a week after acknowledging receipt of the RFE response, but obviously it depends on the nature of the RFE.
