Hello everyone,

ourr case has has been at the American embassy in Cairo for 2 weeks now but we haven't heard anything yet. Are they suppose to send packet 3 or are we suppose to call to schedule for the interview? Also is NVC suppose to send us a welcome letter with invoice number? What is the invoice number for?

thank you

Yasser

We are kind of in the same spot. Our case has been at the Nairobi Consulate for a week and one day now and we have not heard anything from them. From my own research i discovered the website where to schedule an interview but it says they dont have any available appointment dates and we cannot even pay the visa fee. So frustrating. Yesterday I checked on our case status and it had been updated but I dont know what that means, maybe someone touched it again

I just check CEAC website for NVC case status and it said, "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center." What does that mean?

I asked the NVC the same thing. It's the standard posting for when they send it to the consulate. NVC does not provide interview dates for the K1 visas, only the consulate will do that.

For Beneficiary, does she need to apply CEAC online for nonimmigrant DS-160 or immigrant DS-260 before the interview?

If it's a K1, then they would do the DS-160. They consider the K1 as a non immigrant visa.

Thank you KF, I guess there is nothing we can do but wait to hear from the embassy

Yeah, we just have to wait, but its so frustrating. I am finding it so hard to do anything. My motivation is so low. I thought I was done with waiting when I got past waiting for NOA2, but i guess i was wrong

I know how you feel. I'm just confused about the embassy process. When I called NVC and asked what's going to happen next they told me to contact the embassy but then I was also told to wait until I hear from them. Have you received a welcome letter form NVC?

I know you posted this a few weeks ago, but I can tell you what we learned about overseas marriage and divorce; hopefully it will be useful.  My fiancé lived in Korea for eight years.  While he was there, he got married and then divorced.  He never received a copy of the divorce paperwork and didn't request one before he left Korea.  When we started researching the visa, one of our first questions was how to get a copy of his Korean divorce certificate.  Here is what we discovered:

1) You need a certified copy of the divorce paperwork.  In some countries, this means that the paperwork is signed by a judge.  In other countries, this means that the paperwork has a raised seal.

2) Some embassies will allow you to order a copy of the divorce paperwork.  We visited the Korean embassy in Toronto and filled out a form to request the divorce paperwork.  A few weeks later, they told my fiancé that they couldn't process it because he isn't a Korean citizen.  However, some embassies will let you request divorce paperwork without being a citizen of the country.

3) In our online research, we also found that some countries will allow you to order a certified copy of your divorce paperwork online and have it mailed to you.  The Korean government doesn't offer this, so we didn't look into it very deeply, but it might be an option.

We spent several months trying different strategies for getting the paperwork.  My fiancé's parents were traveling to Korea to visit his brother, so he wrote a letter authorizing them to obtain his divorce records, but that didn't work.  He tried contacting his ex-wife.  We reached out to an expat network in Korea, who put him in contact with a lawyer, who couldn't help him because my fiancé no longer lived in Korea.  In the end, my fiancé flew to Korea and requested the divorce records in person.  The day he called me to let me know he had a copy of the divorce paperwork was on the same level of amazingness as the day I found out we got our NOA2.

Thank you so much for the information I'm going to Kosovo on the 20th of this month but I'm trying to figure out where to go to demand a copy of my divorce paper my ex has all the write papers cause he's married now but gave me a notarized letter from his lawyer saying we are divorced and the whole process in the court

Time for another question folks. We are filling out the ds-160 for my fiancé and her girls. The problem is her girls passports are out for renewal and wont be back for 10 to 15 days. The question is this....can the ds-160 be corrected at a later date after submission?  If we use the current information on the passports, will we be able to correct it once the passport renewal has been done without having to reschedule our appointment? Neither one of us wants to wait any longer to get this scheduled, but if we do it, and it gets kicked back, then we will wait even longer! I am wondering if anyone has gone through correcting the ds-160, or something similar...thanks guys!
