Okay so my case reached NVC yesterday, do not have a case number yet... questions!! I am going to visit the 16 of next month so instead of mailing supporting evidence etc I would just take it with me.. mail takes longer..

I would like to know is there anything I can start doing when I have the case number while I wait for it to get to the embassy..The country is Ghana, Can we schedule a medical before it get to the embassy?? Can we pay for the visa?? Or so we just have to wait until it gets to the embassy to do anything else??

Thanks!  I know that the fact the process varies from country to country is really confusing.  For example in Mexico you can't schedule your medical or interview without the consulate invite (package 3) and it is very frustrating cause the mail service in Mexico is really slow and they sometimes misplace your correspondence.  So I'm in a terrible position. I once read that the petitioner receives a copy of it but so far I'm not sure that's true.

So I'm a bit worried that I'll never get my invite letter and I'll have to travel to the consulate and getting printed there which means more money and time wasted.

Canadians are very lucky to be able to print their checklist.

Here's a pretty recent post from a VJ member from Mexico that was able to schedule their interview without officially receiving their official packet 3 letter in the post mail: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/601757-scheduling-interview-for-k1-before-packet-3-mexico/

If this is correct, it could give you an option in regards to waiting for your official packet 3 in the mail to schedule your interview and medical.

I'd send a DM to the VJ members who have replied in that post for more information.  Hope this helps.

Ok, I just read one of your posts in the Grenada portal.  So your fiance is actually a resident of Canada?

If this is the case, after you email returned Packet 3 to the Canadian Embassy, they will reply with Packet 4 instructions.  The Packet 4 reply from the Canadian embassy was fast.  It took literally 12 hours to receive.|

In your Canadian Packet 4 email, you will find information on scheduling your interview.  On the interview scheduling website, you will pay your K1 Visa fee of $265 - we paid $358 CAD.  Also, the Packet 4 email is what you will print out and bring to the interview along with the checked listed items as requested in Packet 3 and 4.

Hope this clarifies everything for you.

Thank you! It's a little bit complicated because he's a Grenadian citizen but has been a permanent resident in Canada since 2011 and currently lives there so we are applying through Montreal. Hopefully our packet 4 comes back as quickly as yours did! Thank you again- that was super helpful!

We didn't even wait for the NVC status to say "In Transit", as soon as I got the MNL# from NVC I had my fiancee pay the visa. The most important thing is to make sure that the status is "Ready" in time for the interview. :)

Hi @VinceKath:D Quick question, when you went for your medical, did you bring the letter from NVC? what if we do not have 1?

Hi @Kiki-G. My fiancée printed out the e-mail from the USEM stating that our case is eligible to be scheduled for an interview. I received the e-mail approximately 1 week after the status changed as "Ready" in CEAC website. From what I've read from other people in this forum, not everyone receives any correspondence from USEM at all. If this is the case, I believe you can bring a screenshot of the "Ready" status window from CEAC website. Also, it's really easy to request status of your case from NVC by using the link below. I also received our NVC case status by using the link below, the response from NVC is very similar to the e-mail USEM sent me. I believe what's relevant to St. Luke's is for the beneficiary to provide them with your MNL case number. Hope this helps.

for the I-134 can I provide tax transcripts downloaded of the IRS site or do I need to provide the actual tax returns?

Hello there everyone! I am in need of some help here. I'm stressed. Our status still says AT NVC on ceacstattracker and when I called today they say the same. Our NOA2 was February 16th. We got our case number from NVC on the 9th of March,  2017 . Our  case is still at NVC. Do you think that they take longer for background checks if the beneficiary has lived in another country (Colombia) for one year besides the Dominican Republic (his native country)  for all of the other years of his life? I can't think of any other reasons. Could  there be  any other reason for the delay? I am aware of others with the same dates as ours and same embassy (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and they're already scheduled for their interview this month. Help anyone please???

Never mind this post haha. I called back later today and the gentleman I spoke to said it's not in administrative processing anymore and is ready to be sent to the embassy with the very next group of cases. He told me to call back on Friday or Monday to see if they have the sent date for me by then. I'm feeling relieved now. I will enjoy this moment until the next stressor comes into play. Lol

Hi!

Thanks for your help. Actually I've been in contact with Maria she's such a sweet person and very helpful. And Eventhou they let you do the ds-160  they will require you the package 3 for biometric, medical and interview.

So what they suggest is either wait or fly an go to the consulate and get your copy printed there. :(

I really hate this waiting game. Wish this process was faster.
