Hi! I had the same problem when filing my DS160, I just sign out and sign in again the next day, typed once again the missing info and saved it. And it worked.

Hey All !

I am past that wait for NOA2 stage and getting prepped for next stages. Calling NVC each day now and making sure affidavit of support, and other documents are in order.

I want to say out loud what i've realised - waiting for NOA2 was easier than the next stressful things in line  so enjoy this 'you own' time and use it to get the paperwork in order.  

Few things to keep in mind and get organised - 

Make sure your vaccines are done as per the rules ( tetanus, MMR, Hep B C etc) . These are not mandatory, but as all say, its easier and cheaper to get them done in home country than in USA.

 

After NOA2 the real work begins - 

DS160

Police certificate

Affidavit of support ( Tell petitioner to keep the W2 and Tax transcripts ready. Salary stubs can be printed in the month of interview) 

Vaccinations

 

Now the most important part - WHAT is the plan one YOU ARE IN USA?  

We've been preparing for this since ages, but have you thougt things through? (Not the marital bliss part, im talking about other admin and documentary tasks)

 

I'm listing a few things here for your help so you can talk to your fiance about pros and cons of each and make decisions before you move and can plan your dates accordingly:-

How soon to get married after arrival? 

Getting marriage licence and certificate

Getting a house together if planned (and if you want your name also on the lease as its good for the AoS docs)

Getting SSN - You have to decide if you want it with your K1 or after AoS. Its useful for opening joint accounts which are useful for AoS. 

Applying for EAD and Advance Parole - Keep in mind if you have to travel abroad within 6 months of entering USA, then your AP needs to be applied for because till then green card may or may not come. 

Also, if you plan on doing a job asap or can wait. In that case you might need to apply EAD separately if date of wedding is later. Thats additional cost. 

There's no fee for AP and EAD if you apply along with I-485. 

Costs - 

EAD - $410

AP - $575

AoS - $1225

 

So as you see, there's much to think about and plan for  

I just noted them down here as I am in the middle of all this thinking through and am very sure i'll post my own questions very soon

Good afternoon everyone. After 3 days of stress and worry after the NVC telling me  our K1 was in AP prior to going to the embassy I called today and was told it should be shipped out to our embassy rather quickly!  As everyone told me and for those who hear the terrible phrase administrative processing  if you call the nvc and you're told this it is normal. It's their term for they are converting it from a USCIS case to a Dept. of State case. Our A.P. was about 4 days.  Thank you so much for those that sent a positive post to my rants and whining and moaning. 

I will say the folks at the nvc you speak with are awesome. Very polite and friendly. I also was overly polite and kissed their ### every time I called. 

She explained the next steps I will have to take and even offered to give me the number for the embassy. She did advise it was up to me to contact the embassy as there is no email for snail mail notification when it is sent to the embassy. Now I don't know if that is unique to all embassies for just Thailand.  Thanks again everyone and I will keep a good thought for those still in the trenches of this process. One step closer to wrapping this up!

not that I'm telling you anything you don't already know but if I may suggest when you get your NOA2 start gathering your paperwork to send for the embassy stage. 

That is a two fold reason. 1. It will get you ahead of the power curve so when it's ready to submit for the interview you will be able to do so with little to know lag time and 2. It makes you feel like your accomplishing something and helps make the time go by quicker. I probably spent 6 hours total putting everything together from organizing and labeling photos, gathering tax records, employment letter, bank statements, check stubs, copy of passport and stamps, flight boarding passes and hotel receipts, updated letter of intent to marry, social media posts and copy of texts and call logs and financial support government forms. All told I sent 2 1" three ring binders containing all of that along with over 1,000 pages of texts and call logs. I'm sure they will spend all of about 5 minutes skimming though it. I believe it's better to provide an over abundance of documentation neatly organized showing you have your together to cast out any doubt removing any possibility of a denial being issued. Ok I'm climbing off my soap box and going to sleep. I just finished working a 24 hour shift and I'm going to sleep

11/22 filer.  Just got approved!  I was worried that a small number of minor things on my background as a college age partier might be an issue but we fully disclosed them all with all supporting information - if that is help to anyone who might be worried about such things...

Just got off the phone with NVC, and we got our case number! Man I'm so excited right now! You guys weren't kidding, once that NOA2 hits, things start moving quick! Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. You've all helped keep my spirits up through this whole process!
