Can someone be denied before having to leave the country for the consular interview?  I have had my bio-metrics  appointment and my 601-A has been

approved.  I am in the process of submitting the DS-260 and affidavit of support.  I was arrested over 20 years ago and  the charges were dismissed and

12 years ago I plead guilty to a misdemeanor.  I explained the circumstances of the arrests when I submitted the 601-A and assume that those arrests would have

shown up after getting my fingerprints taken. If those items on my record would deem me as inadmissible would I be told that before going to the  consular

interview or would immigration still send me for an appointment at the consulate and at the interview then be told that my visa was denied due to those arrests?

Thanks for your help!

I601A deals with illegal presence, anything else is dealt with by the Consulate and may require a I601.

Yes you can be denied at consular interview &

have a ban if anything is causing inadmissibility,

not knowing all your case & siuation one cannot

say for sure here, you should at least consult with

a waiver atty before departing the country.

USCIS can use reason to believe to deny & require an

I 601 while you wait in your country until its processed,

even when a case was dismissed especially if it involved

drugs or DV (not saying it did)
