Jesus this is such a mess.

I know being in the U.S illegally is a crime, but these people were brought in as kids. It was their parents fault, the parents committed the crime,  and the kids are left out of status in the only country they call home, so what are their choices? go back and start from scratch in a place they don't know, without friends and family? So I also get the creation of DACA, even if it isn't perfect.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a poor use of man power and tax payer's money? I get targeting criminals, but trying to overrule DACA  seems like an attempt to bring down everything Obama ever created, and it sounds like a lot of trouble for a lot of people, and it has already started.

Ramirez filed a challenge to his detention in Seattle federal court on Monday, arguing that the government violated his constitutional rights because he had work authorization under the DACA program.

As far as I know constitutional rights only apply to US citizens....nevertheless I disagree with this arrest. Anybody who did not make a conscious decision to come here and has a life here should not be at fault and uprooted I think that should be clear to any sensible human being.

Locally interviewed ICE agent said, "These raids typically take a couple of months to plan."  Therefore, it's unclear whether automatically blaming President Trump for them is valid.

Acquaintance of mine said, when the DACA program was decreed, "Sure, give the kids their work permits -- as long as their parents submit themselves for deportation."

Interesting you should say that.  They were actually after his father. He was collateral

They came looking for his father.  Depending on who you talk to he was coerced into confession or outright told them.

In all likelihood the guy won't end up being deported. ICE has a policy of not going through with deportation, unless the person is a criminal.

Most unfortunate news for all those who were getting some excitement with the prospect of this young man's life being destroyed.

It was not his choice to come here, and he was allowed to be here. It's not like he didn't take the opportunity to not have proper documents like others do. He willingly went to the government and had legal documents. It boggles my mind how cold-hearted some can be in this world.. but nevertheless, constitutional rights still apply to him. I'd again be happy to supply some legal arguments via links.. but it's a lot of reading.

No need, like I said I disagree with the arrest either way. And I hope and am pretty certain they won't go through with deportation. Still an unnecessary hassle though.

The benefit that this kid has is that he's the first.  Lawyers will (likely already have) line up to defend this case.

according to Reuters he was arrested at his fathers home.  He may not have had his DACAments on him thus getting swept up in the shuffle.  Once ICE realized this they probably started asking about gang affiliation to cover their backs.

DACA is not a status, I can think of no reason why he should not be deported.

We are all created equal.  Whether you agree with these deportations or not, rejoicing in someone else's misfortune says alot about your character.

I imagine ICE raids have always been happening, it's just more in the news now because Trump is President. When President Obama was in office, he had the highest number of deportation but you never heard much about it (or I didn't).

In regards to DACA, I believe children should not be punished for the sins of their parents (the parents should not get a free pass though). If everything checks out, they should let this individual go and give an apology.

You're right, I completely dislike Trump don't get me wrong, but there sure is lot of extra drama surrounding him for sure. I agree, it is definitely the parents fault since you're not old enough to make a decision, or you simply can't since your parents are your guardians/the legal representation of you until you're old enough. I'm also incredibly sad for the thousands of kids that are sent illegally on their own and are left struggling, or the ones left behind because the parents leave searching for a better life. It's broken hearts in both sides of the border.
