I-864 questions

Hello, I am getting ready to submit my AOS & IV packages, I was wondering a few things..

 

1. My joint sponsor gave me the form, and most recent IRS tax return transcript (2016) is this enough? Also, my joint sponsor is a LPR so what is the best proof to submit of citizenship if not a US citizen yet?

2. Is there any guide or samples up to date that I'm missing that I could use to make sure all forms are filled correctly?

Sorry if my questions are silly, but I don't want to leave anything out or make any mistakes so help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Make certain your joint sponsor completed and signed form !-864A.  This' the web-link for 'Form I-864 Instructions'.  Uncertain as to whether most recent IRS tax year is sufficient, or whether they will require additional most recent years also.

1. Should be sufficient and a photocopy of the Green Card.

Incorrect, a joint sponsor does not fill out an I-864A.  An I-864A is completed by a household member that either a petitioner or a joint sponsor is combining income with.

Thank you for your response. I've gone over the nvc guide many times, but I was wondering if there was anything on the I-864 form in particular. I am confused if in part 3 on family member number one if I rewrite my husband's information again as I did in part 2 of the form. I am worried I may not have filled everything out correctly.

The section of part 3 (question #9) that you are referring to pertains to derivative beneficiaries, you would not rewrite your husband's information there.  Just tick the box that you sponsoring the immigrant named in part 2 above and the yes box for question #8.

the most recent tax is 2015, so did your joint sponsor send you 2015 tax

 

2016 tax isn't required until after April, when tax season is over

 

proof of LPR is the Green Card, he or she should have sent you a copy of his or her GC front and back

 I was looking at the I-864 given and it said 2016 while the tax transcript says "Tax period, December 2015" and "tax period ending: Dec 31, 2015" so it was 2015, but miswritten on my joint sponsor's form. It was the IRS transcript given.

Even though transcripts should be enough I've seen ppl get rfe for w2's and tax schedules when sending these.  Also think about 

1. It's a long time ago since the 2015 return was filed. Consider sending additional proof of current income, employer letter, pay stubs etc.

2. If they start working on your case after 2016 taxes are due, they might request this in an rfe. Consider for your sponsor to file their 2016 taxes and submitting this as most recent, with w2's etc.

I will discuss additional income proofs with my joint sponsor today. How many pay stubs would be good? I don't think requesting them to pay taxes before April would be possible, but additional proofs could be arranged. Another thing I have found wrong upon looking over the I-864 of my joint sponsor is that they've left the "A number" and "USCIS elis number" blank. Would they have a elis number? Or if I get them to fill in at least the "A number" would that be good enough?

As many as you can get within the last 6 months.. at least try to cover that period if not sending all.

I guess since they are an LPR they should have an A-number. Yes the A-number would be good enough in the section about them and their information.

One showing income Year-to-date (YTD) is usually sufficient.
