My God I am in heaven!! Having Luz and Robin with me is better than I could ever imagine! They are starting their second full day here. Friday night was kind of chaotic getting them settled in. Showing them where everything is, unpacking their suitcases and generally getting used to their surroundings. Yesterday Robin just slept most of the time as his jetlag was kind of bad. While Robin was sleeping I took Luz for a little trip around Peoria. I took her downtown, took her by where I work and then took her to the "evil" Walmart. I loved her reaction to Walmart! She walked around with her mouth hanging open amazed at the variety and quantity of things available.

Last night we went to Joe's Crab Shack for supper. Robin and I had crab legs and Luz had fish. It was all great! I asked her if there is anything she does not like about America so far. The only thing is the weather. It is below freezing and it is really hard for them both.

Today we all woke up very early, 4:30 AM. Thats jet lag for you! But I don't mind the way she wakes me up! At 6:00AM we all decided it was just time to get out of bed and start the day. I made everyone Bacon and eggs with fruit for breakfast. I can't tell you how nice it is to have family dinners!!

I showed Luz how to use our western conveniences like the dishwasher and the automatic clothes washer and dryer. She wonders what she will do with herself with all these automatic time savers.

Luz and Robin have been making full use of the computer to chat with their family back home. I can see how her family and her will be able to mitigate at least some of the home-sickness that way. I left the Vonage phone system there. When her sister gets a technician to come over to set it up they will be able to talk on the phone as much as they want.

All in all it has been like a dream come true having them with me. They both seem to be happy to be here and we are all looking forward to the rest of our lives together. The work and worry of the last 3 years has been worth every second and gray hair. I thank God for giving us the strength and patience to overcome all the obstacles that life put in front of us. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

Gary, have you looked into any asian markets nearby? The one near us carries a lot of brands from the Philippines. Also, take her to Target and then she'll see how nicer it is to Walmart. :P

I found one nearby. I called and they said they have all the Filipino foods. MMMMM!!!! Lumpia!! Walmart is much better than Target because Walmart has a full supermarket! Very cheap! It saves me at least $50/week. Always go for the bux!

I came back to this web site in the last months when I started removing conditions. I have been reading for years and I feel a little more daring to answer now in english.

I read all this thread today and I read some parts of it to my husband, I just stoped crying.

It made me remember my own trip when I traveled alone and cried so much in the airplane that the flight atendant got scared that I was crazy and bring me a box of tissues and could not stop checking on me. I knew that I was going to miss home. This was more than 3 years ago. I don't regret doing it, I would do it again.

I know that many of you here have a very nice friendship. I enjoyed reading everybody's commets.

Good luck to Luz and Gary.
