Hi Everyone,

I am a US Citizen who currently lives in Canada with my spouse (who is a Canadian citizen). We've been married for over 5 years now and have lived in Canada for over 4 years.

I just want to 100% confirm that we can and should apply through the DCF route.

Also, I was wondering if someone could give me a quick breakdown of the process and the realistic timeline involved.

I understand that I first need to file a I-130 which will then be approved, but I'm a little lost after that. Can someone point me in the right direction? My biggest concern is getting a firm grip on a realistic timeline on when my spouse could receive their PR/Green Card, so that we can plan accordingly. Thank you for any help you can provide!

I did not think Canada did DCF? About a year otherwise, I have seen Canada is pretty hot on having a US domicile. Read the guides and the Canada forum.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank you Palawan1.  With the Case Number included in one of the two (2) emails we received today, starting tonight we can proceed to requesting a visa appointment via phone call or scheduled it online, and once ready with the fee, medical can happen anytime soon.

We are grateful that we don't need to wait for Case Number, its included already in the MNL, Appointments email.

Hope this helps us all.  All glory to God for the timely processing.

By the way, how's your daughter's birth certificate registration?

Hi santoki,

Good day.  Thank you for your inquiry.  We received our notice of approval today, and in what we experienced with DCF, USCIS-US EMBASSY MANILA, it only took 30 days for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to approved our Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) that we FILED on FEBRUARY 2, 2017  (Correcting our erroneous data, NOT February 3, 2017...our apology). Technically, it counted 30 days from the day we filed our I-130.

With your inquiry:

Also, I was wondering if someone could give me a quick breakdown of the process and the realistic timeline involved.

With the Approval Notice(Petition for Alien Relative -Form I-130 from USCIS, (attached soft copy) and Consular Section (Immigrant Visa Unit) MNL, Appointment Notice including the CASE NUMBER and provided information of scheduling our visa interview online or via phone call anytime,  starting today we can proceed in scheduling our appointment interview.  As of this writing the IMMIGRANT first available appointment that we can scheduled online  is MARCH 8, 2017

I understand that I first need to file a I-130 which will then be approved, but I'm a little lost after that. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Again with what we are experiencing, and others shared stories of DCF I-130 processing here in USA EMBASSY MANILA, PHILIPPINES...the next steps to focus your attention with are:

1. MEDICAL EXAMINATION of the applicant which in your case your spouse.  God willing, one (1) day processing only

2. SCHEDULE THE VISA INTERVIEW can be done a week after the medical

3. COMMISSION ON FILIPINO OVERSEAS (CFO) Sticker for Fiancee and Spouse, and partners of foreign nationals. (In compliance with the Department of Foreign Affairs)

4. BOOKED YOUR AIRPLANE TICKETS

5. and or PAY THE GREEN CARD IMMIGRANT FEES ONLINE

Step 3, 4, 5 can be done after 1, 2

or

Step 3 can be done prior to Step 1, 2, 4 and 5

In this fallen world, we are all aware that shits happens all the time but:

*** Prayers. Planning ahead. Never Procrastinate.  We learned that planning ahead will help us to established our goal straight, and establishing our strategies how to achieved it.  It will helps spouses to focus together in the same path.  Mostly in allocating budgets.

Smart question on your part.  Commending you there.

God willing, all of these are achievable to happen days, weeks after your I-130 Approval or within the same month.  Hope this helps BUT a gentle reminder this setting and time frame is proven to happened for DCF, I-130 filing at USCIS, USA EMBASSY MANILA, PHILIPPINES.

Hope this helps us all.  God bless.

Yes we did received two (2) emails today.  One from CIS, MPH Inquiry (we tried not to bothered them but inquired to them twice this month :)  HA!)  Including the attached APPROVAL NOTICE.  3:00 PM, March 03, 2017

And the other one:

From IVMNL, Appointments, including the CASE NUMBER.  3:58 PM, March 03, 2017

***Petitioner will received this both BUT the applicant will ONLY received the email from IVMNL of course including the CASE NUMBER.

Its okay to email them.  We even called them and had some chats over the phone with USCIS personnel, and had some few overseas phone calls with USCIS, USA which we will not suggest for you to do.  Costly. :)

We are praying for you guys. Hope this helps.  AND, Thank you so much for the prayers.

By the way, how's your daughter's birth certificate registration?

Having that case number in the email will make it easy for us too. March 16th her birth certificate will be ready for us to pick up at the hospital. We will then proceed to the civil registrar's office and try for an "advance endorsement" of the PSA birth certificate. Your advice will help us out. Hopefully they can expedite it for us. I found this website that gives a good description on what to do...it's at the bottom of the page just above comments (expediting applications):
