Hello. 

 

I'm curious about the upcoming biometrics appointment. What happens? is it just for finger prints and basically in and out? Thank you!

I had my biometrics at the end of December.  

 

Be about 10-15 mins early.  You'll go through security and they need to see the letter with the appointment and a form of photo ID and they'll direct you to the next place. 

 

In Buffalo, it's another waiting room off to the side.  I went in, signed in on their sign in sheet and then filled out an applicant info sheet (basics: name, dob

etc) 

 

Then the technician called me to the back (and didn't take the info sheet).  Took my photo (and made sure I liked it haha) and then my prints (each finger and then two captures of four fingers at once.)

 

And that was it.  It was well under an hour including the early arrival and brief waiting for the appointment.

Thanks so much for your reply and the information you shared. Did you go in alone? Is it possible for a spouse to accompany?

you can have someone come with you. i came with my boyfriend, they didnt say anything. i went early before they open. got in, showed my notice then wait. they called me over, took a picture, got fingerprints then stamped the notice. everyone was nice. the process is really fast, less than 5 minutes, the wait might be long since lots of people show up earlier than their actual appointment. good luck!

I did go in alone, but that's because my husband works weird hours and I wanted to let him sleep.  

 

I believe you can bring your spouse :-)

 

The bulk of the time is spent waiting.  The actual picture and fingerprint capture is only a few minutes, so having someone to chat with for the other 30 mins I was there would have been nice.
