K-1 Approved, status changed from Ready to Administrative Processing

Hi all,

I had my K-1 interview in the Jerusalem Consulate in Israel on Wednesday (Feb 8th) and the CO told me I am approved (interview was very easy and nice, he almost did not ask any personal questions since I assume he already decided I'm "legit"), kept my passport and documents, and told me I should be expecting the visa with packet in the mail within a week or two.

Right now I checked the status of my case on CEAC and it switched from "Ready" to "Administrative Processing".

Should I be worried or is this normal before being issued?

Thanks!

Completely normal. Everyone, no matter where, goes through some form of AP. Might be 1-2 days, or a long time. It's normal though so do not worry.

Thanks a lot for your answer, so you mean it could be a long time now?

(They have my passport so isn't that a thing?)

I can't specify for the embassy in Israel, but I would think 1-2 weeks. You might have to ask some other members here from Israel how long they went through AP for. For us, in the Philippines, it was like 3 days.. some countries can be up to 3-6 months; but again Israel I bet is relatively short AP time, so I wouldn't get too frustrated or worried until 1-2 weeks. Just keep checking it each day.

You were approved and they kept your passport. Most people think that the minute they are approved, the passport will be stamped with the Visa...lol...After approval, it goes into AP for processing and the status might change between AP and Issued back to AP and then issued, which is normal.  Just as I tell everyone else, go to CEAC, if you are K1 Visa, on top if it says None Immigrant Visa, then your visa was issued even though AP status did not change. If still shows Immigrant Visa on top, then they are still working on it. Give it few days to a week and you should receive the good news.   Good luck!
