Hi. 

My husband  had interview in Afghanistan on November 27,2016.  Its going to be almost 3 months and we are still in Administrative Process. There are other people who i know, they had same day interview as my husband and some had few weeks ago and they already got their visas in hand. This is so frustrating. The embassy has his passport though and gave him the yellow card with the AP checked marked. 

Does anyone have any info about the embassy in AFG? Thank You.

AP can definately vary and there are several things that can make it last longer. Think a lot may say up to 6 months could be common. 

 

 

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

Unfortunately, it's just a waiting game. Check in every couple weeks or so to see if there's an update, but otherwise there's nothing you (or even an attorney) can do but wait it out.

There is no way to predict how long AP will last. Stay in contact with the embassy once every 3 months to see if they require anything extra (and mostly for your sanity). AP can last for years.

Because that's the way it is. Immigration is a privilege, not a right. They need to complete their checks in AP. Hopefully (and usually) it's only a few weeks or months. Sometimes it's 6+ months or even years for them to complete whatever review is necessary.

AP can be days(usually), weeks(sometimes), or years(rarely). The US govt has to conduct background checks an applicant has no control over. 

Cannot compare a case to someone else's; each case is unique and decided on it's own merit.
