Rescheduling the citizenship appointments

Hello,

I am a permanent resident, and I'm intending to apply for naturalization in June 8th, 2017 (My 5th years anniversary will be in September 6th, 2017). Because of a strong circumstance I will have to leave the US in end of October 2017, then come back in the end of November 2017. My concern is what if USCIS schedules the citizenship interview or Oath when I’m away. Will rescheduling the appointment be a problem? is it possible to ask USCIS in advance to not schedule me in the period when Im not in the US ?

You can mention your travel to the interviewer and hope for the best, but if you do that, make sure there is someone at home checking your mail, just in case they schedule you anyways.  Another option is to simply wait until after your travel to apply.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
