I was reading through this thread and had a question.

Is he able to file for US citizenship if an application for his wife to move to Canada has already been sent to the Canadian government? I'm not sure if the US government has access to that information. But, I thought a requirement for US citizenship was the intent to reside within the US after obtaining citizenship. I may be completely wrong with that, though.

It's years away for me. But, I had contemplated with my fiance of returning to Canada after obtaining US citizenship at some point.

Definitely a condition for Green Card, but I don't see anything where citizenship should be impacted.

Thanks for the response. Good to know. It had been awhile since I looked at the conditions. Good luck with your continued journey.

No you can have a both applications going. There have been members on here who had an application for GC going and Canadian PR going because they didn't know which one would be faster or where they wanted to end up.

Too bad I didn't see this post earlier.

I'd have advised visiting on an extended "visitor record" and filing for spouses PR card "outland" (presuming outland still has less turnaround nowadays) if they are within driving distance of a Canadian embassy in the US. I flagpoled for a VR @ Peace Bridge in the middle of an outland PR app while in Canada (filed for PR outland while inside Canada, did medicals in Canada as well) on visitor status, I was completely up front about the issue, had all the required documentation for an inland app for visitor extension, even talking to Peace Bridge CBSA officers, to which they responded "we're not in the business of breaking up families" and told me ahead of time to reference the officer I talked to so he can accept it quicker. They are not like the USBP when it comes to this "gotcha" game of intent.
