Like Limey, we listed the occasions we had travelled to visit each other on a full page (12 listed) and then compiled evidence for each visit - flight bookings, boarding passes, buses, trains, passport stamps etc - and a dossier of photographs in each location (where possible with landmarks).  I listed the evidence in 12 attachments cross referenced to the list of visits - each photograph had our names and the date and location clearly marked and a number referencing it to the 'master list'.  I think somewhere in the notes for the i-129f it mentioned that this all needed to be referenced - this bit took me about two days to put together!

I thought perhaps I was being a bit over the top - but it seems perhaps that might be what they want.  I'm gutted for you. it does sound as though you will be able to apply again though - albeit at a higher cost...

There is a page on here with a good list of everything to include with your i-129f and how to present it.  I followed that -probably a little more than I needed to but I was scared stiff of getting something wrong so included everything I could and labelled everything.

Thanks yes we are now putting together all we can find. Trouble is when you venture into a relationship you don't document every meeting or photo etc as you don't plan on ever needing it!

And yes we need to send all the evidence in 30 days with the sum of $675. The cost isn't a problem but it doesn't actually explain why you have to pay ? Bearing in mind we paid at the start of our application. Oh well let's see what happens.

Maybe the price went up as it did for some other petitions. The filing fee is actually $535 now. Could you call them and find out?

If you do have to start everything from the beginning, I would suggest you also to organize your case better. Put a cover letter that lists all the items you include, insert tabs to make it easier to navigate or they might miss something. Attach together itineraries and copies of boarding passes. I made copies of passport pages with stamps, then printed out the e-mail where we discuss the trip, then itinerary where the particular trip was listed and the one we discussed, and I attached a copy of the boarding pass to the same itinerary. So I clipped together all the possible info about each trip separately for them to better navigate through the evidences. I did that in a chronological order. Do you have phone call records. If you met in the US, you might have called each other before going on a date, right? Attach all the possible evidences you could possibly think about. If you think they might not understand what kind of evidence it is, then write an explanation on a paper and attach it to the evidence. We never had pictures with dates recorded on them. I just wrote on the back side the dates and explanations.

If you can list each meeting in the past two years - when there have been visits involved - and go back through your emails to find evidence of flight bookings (I know boarding cards are less easy to find as they have probabaly been thrown out unless there are a couple lurking at the bottom of a carry-on bag).

Search your email records/messaging apps for any other evidence of discussions about visits.  Label any photos you have with approximate dates and locations.  I wrote on the back of our photos and put them in display wallets.  Evidence for each trip was clipped together and everything labelled - along with a list of contents which detailed each visit and the evidence of it.  This is where the internet is so useful because so much organisation is done online there is usually a digital trail of emails/bookings etc. Lenchick's tips are great.  I think the more clearly you can label everythhing, the more likely you are to have your application sail through.  I went and bought bundles of post-it notes and highlighter pens to help make it easy for the case officer to see what was what.

I don't know who told you that is the price, but it is NOT $675. Please refer to the USCIS website: the charge is NOW $535. Sending in an incorrect amount of money is a big no no. https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

Before refilling, again I would strongly urge to attend an infopass or follow up with a representative to discover what went wrong with the case with better info, and ensure that the case is actually closed. Nor do I understand why it has to be 'sent within 30 days'? If you do intend to refile, follow the guides here very closely.

Well I'm no expert... but it sounds to me like the RFE info you sent may not have made it to them. You mention they received it in Oct... perhaps the tracking indicated it was delivered, but it got misplaced somehow? It seems odd to me that they would receive your reply in Oct and then wait until mid Feb to deny your application. Normally RFE's are processed much quicker than that... in my case, it only added an extra week and half of processing.

Considering that $535 USD is about £430 GBP I'm unclear about that too. People are trying their best to help, but there's a lot that's been said here that doesn't make sense. :/

Either way I feel for OP. And shame about the price increase. If I got my AoS application in back when I married it would have been cheaper for me, too lol.

The $675 is the I-290B (Notice of Appeal or Motion) to challenge the denial. A brand new K-1 would be  $535. That's also where the 30 days comes into play.

Well that is correct - but I thought it was generally accepted that it is quicker and a great deal less waste of time, effort, and money to abandon that step and simply refile. Though in this case, which I don't think we're getting all the facts, it would be a good idea to follow up somehow on if there was some sort of error.

Agreed. I think doing a new K-1 would be a more worthwhile endeavor. I was just pointing out where the $675 & 30 days was coming from. I don't know what the OP has decided to do (challenge or refile).

Thank you for explaining that. It's a shame that they don't explain in the letter why they need more money. They just ask for it and in the first paragraph. They ask for $675 and tell you how to pay etc. Before they explain why you were denied

I think we are going to "challenge" as you call it! I think,we've waited 6 months for this and to refile is going to take around the same again!

Facts!? The facts are that we got an RFE for evidence that we met in person. We sent evidence which apparently wasn't enough which resulted in a denial. The letter of denial states they want documented evidence and $675.

We are now in the process of sending the above.

I think what she means is that you have not been very detailed, and in this process DETAILS REALLY MATTER. You were asked for the specific wordings and details so that ppl may help you better and suggest what might have specifically gone wrong so that you can overcome it. If you choose not to supply that info, then don't be surprised if the problem doesn't resolve itself for next time.
