Same here. How do you manage to get a visa for visiting while saying "hi, I'm going to work in the US".

She did not.

I wasn't being funny I was just answering your questions as best as I can. My USA employer at the time applied for my visa and the USA embassy in the uk granted me it.

You applied, the reason would have been supported by the employer. Are they still in the US? When were they supposed to leave?

There's a specific provision of the foreign affairs manual that permits the approval of a tourist visa for certain domestic workers. It's usually used by U.S. military and diplomatic families that are returning to the U.S. for a finite period.

Yes the visa was supported by the us Air Force. The family moved on to Texas as that was their posting I returned to the uk.

Unlikely as I said to be the current issue and hopefully it will not come up.

Hi we heard today that our visa application has been denied!! We have to wait for a letter stating why.

I am in the uk my fiancé in the USA. We have been together nearly 18 months and I've lived and worked in the USA for 15 months until August 2016. We applied for the K1 August 10 2016.

Does anyone know if I can travel to visit him with my ESTA!?

Also does the application for a K1 have a time limit from sent date or NOA 1 to processing!? Would it have expired!??

Thanks in advance

Hi we received the letter today. It says the evidence he sent was refused at it wasn't documented!!??  We now have to reapply and the fee they request is now $670 instead of the original $340! I do wonder if this is a money making thing!?

And what does documented mean? We sent flight info on him costing me in the uk as well as photos and the receipt for my engagement ring!

What kind of flight info did you send?

Did you send copies of your passport with entry stamps?

Were the photos dated?

What about hotel receipts etc?

Hi,

I understand this is upsetting: but could you either upload the denial notice (with appropriate redacted personal information) or post verbatim the entire notice so we can get a better understanding?

You say you sent in documents showing that you two had met, but the reality is showing passport stamps or a single boarding pass don't prove you two were in the same place at the same time. Photographs that also don't show the date they were taken, again are also secondary evidence (so the officer will need something else to back this up) - may prove that you met, but don't necessarily prove you met within the two year period as required. Did you send an explanation of meeting letter with dates or a description of places you may have went together? How about hotel bills, or ticket stubs, or receipts showing you both at the same place and time?

At this point and time, you at least now know why it was denied. You can make an infopass appointment or speak with congressional representative that might be able to find out if they were looking for something else in particular - but it sounds like whatever you provided simply wasn't enough... and while may show that your fiancé went to your country, didn't place you together on those dates with enough evidence to pass the test. You can always refile, and next time try and scrounge up anything you can possibly think of to add to the package, make a little more detailed explanation of meeting letter, and make sure any photographs are dated.

As others have said, it would be good to see exact wording of the notice, plus details of exactly what proof you had sent.

In our case (following advice on this forum) we firstly itemized (numbered in a list) each visit that either of us had made to the other, with dates. We then presented a sheet for each of these meetings, which contained passport stamps, boarding passes, and photographs where possible. Its obviously good if (eg) we can show my fiancee made a trip to UK and Portugal, and then show pictures of us clearly together in front of landmarks in London and Lisbon - they could have been taken at a different time, but unlikely (especially as my fiancee has only one stamp in her passport for Portugal, having only been there once). We also had a couple of photographs that had been taken at tourist attractions, where they print a cheesy border and a date on the photo - this seemed good proof that we were both together on a specified date.

It does seem rather unusual that you've been denied in this way - especially since you had a visa and could show you'd originally met in the US. I'd have thought you'd have had lots of evidence from that period alone. I hope you are able to resolve it. Good luck!

Like Limey, we listed the occasions we had travelled to visit each other on a full page (12 listed) and then compiled evidence for each visit - flight bookings, boarding passes, buses, trains, passport stamps etc - and a dossier of photographs in each location (where possible with landmarks).  I listed the evidence in 12 attachments cross referenced to the list of visits - each photograph had our names and the date and location clearly marked and a number referencing it to the 'master list'.  I think somewhere in the notes for the i-129f it mentioned that this all needed to be referenced - this bit took me about two days to put together!

I thought perhaps I was being a bit over the top - but it seems perhaps that might be what they want.  I'm gutted for you. it does sound as though you will be able to apply again though - albeit at a higher cost...

There is a page on here with a good list of everything to include with your i-129f and how to present it.  I followed that -probably a little more than I needed to but I was scared stiff of getting something wrong so included everything I could and labelled everything.

I think you were just really unlucky... you just happened to get someone looking at your file who was very strict. I didn't submit a lot of evidence or a neat timeline just like many other people on VJ because I didn't know better and the application didn't ask for much evidence. I didn't worry about it until I read much later the posts on VJ how people submit a huge amount of evidence with timelines and all kinds of things.

I was also on a B1 visa when I met my fiancée. So all I submitted was a copy of my visa and my extension approval showing that I was living in the same city with him for 10 months in total and then added 7 pictures, one for almost each month that I stayed there. I visited him two months after I left on my B1 another time for 6 weeks and submitted my boarding passes and another three pictures from that visit. That was it. No timeline or any additional receipts.

At least you know now what went wrong even if that means filing another petition. I probably wouldn't even care about the money (although I know it's a lot) but the time we have to spent apart even longer now. I'm sorry this happened to you.
