the conditions have to be removed anywhere between 90 days and the day your green card expires (although it is wise to file the paperwork as soon as possible within those 90 days)...

you need to send in a form, $275 and evidence that you are actually a married couple....

check out the guides here for more specific information....

When you enter the USA at the POE they will give you the date you need to file to lift conditoins. And the link is good for the forms and information that Marilyn posted. Fees are constantly changing so do not bank on 275.00 since I heard this fall or sooner is a planned increase.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

MarilynP,

Point of clarification: the person has to petition to have the conditions removed in the 90-day period. The conditions do not have to be removed in that time frame, and most likely they will not be removed anywhere near that soon.

now suppose i take the case on myself it means the moment i enter the port of entry they are going to give me a date for expiration of my temporary green card

so i have to file I-751 form must be filed within the 90 days just preceding the expiration date on your card. This is the date my conditional residence expires.

It is very important to file the I-751 within the correct window of time, and be sure not to file it before the 90-day window. (If you file it too early, they will send your application back.)

yodrak i hope i am right ,

thanks so much marilyn , yodrak and maryandmian , marilyn your link solved a lotta doubts ,

Mala,

When you enter the POE the officer will issue you a slip of paper that tells you a time frame to lift conditions. You must remember the date and then you will submit your paperwork and fees. If you file too early they return your paperwork to you. My husband came May 2006 amd got a half slip of white paper and it tells us to file in February of 2008 so that is our start of the 90 days.

Alternately, look at the expiration date on the Green Card when it arrives. :)

Mala, you can check out the links in my signature; they will help explain a lot of it.
