I thought that the Green Card took the place of the EAD card...after you receive it. Otherwise you would have to reapply for employment authorization before the green card expires.

I thought once you got the greencard you don't have to worry about EAD (even AP) because the GC alone can take you anywhere?

im just wondering, why you requested for a new card? i hope mine arrives soon so i can file for AOS asap :D

hi! how many days/weeks before i receive my SSN? coz its been 2 weeks already. :) thanks

I believe SSA is having some difficulties with card production because I have been waiting for more than 2 weeks too and still nothing. The first time I went there last Dec. for a new card, it didn't come in the mail after waiting for it for almost a month. So I went back again and reported it. They requested a new card for me and told me that it will arrive in the mail within two weeks but nothing again. So I checked with them again and they told me that Georgia office who's supposed to make the cards is probably having some tech problems. And that I will have to wait for one more week and come back to their office.

I suggest you go back to your SSA office and tell them that you didn't get the card in the mail and that it's been 2 weeks.

You don't have to wait for the SS Card to file AOS. If you don't have an SSN yet, put NONE in the box.

Because all my previous SS cards have indication that I cannot work until I got DHS authorization and that refers to having either an EAD or the GC itself. And oh, I finally got the latest SS card in the mail yesterday (after more than 2 weeks).

You don't need SS number to file AOS. Like what john_and_marlene said, just put "NONE". It's not going to affect the application at all.

Hi peeps,

I already got my EAD card in the mail today but they put wrong issued dates and expiration dates on it (i.e., Jan. 19, 2007 and Jan. 18, 2008, respectively)...my card has already expired before i was approved, hehehe...anyways, i will call uscis tomorrow to know the remedy...it is somehow frustrating that we need to wait again for the re-issued card.

one more thing...i got these emails from CRIS...

1. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On January 30, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

2. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On January 30, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

With these emails, does this mean that i am now approved with no interview??? what does ADIT in email #2 mean?

Thanks.

and oh yea i dont know what ADIT is but we have the exact email from CRIS after i got approved so no worries

ADIT ( Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System ) is an old term which is now referred to as Biometrics. guess USCIS hasn't updated it's email notifications.

Anyone know what forms/documents are needed for the interview for a K-2 Follow-to-join at USEM?

My mother-in-law is there in the Phils and will accompany my step-daughter, but she is confused and has difficulty in figuring it all out even with the Packet 4. I thnk its confusing too as Packet 4 is designed for the K-1 and not really specific to the K-2 alone. Here's the forms/docs I am pretty sure about:

DS-156

DS-157 (with bank validation of visa fee payment)

I-134 (with associated income tax, W-2s, etc.)

Copy of our Marriage Certificate

Copy of our Divorce/Annullment papers from previous marriage

Copy of the birth cert. of me, my wife, and my step-daughter

2X2 photos

Passport

Does she need proof of meeting? Proof of support like receipts of remittance?

Any help from someone that has done this before would be much appreciated.

we didn't do follow to join, but looks good to me. NBI and other country poice certificate not needed if under 16.

I do not think you should need any evidence of prior meeting or genuine engagement. copy of your marriage certificate should be able to take of that requirement. maybe if you create a separate thread, someone who has done follow to join, and doesn't browse the Interview Thread, will be more likely to see it.

best of luck with everything

Thanks for the input. That's a good idea to post it as a separate thread. I will do that too.
