Scott and Marisol, Congrats on the AOS approval  you must have gone to the Jolibee in Union City. my step daughter consumed two Jolly Dogs but had to turn down her request for a third. they're a little more pricey than in Philippines.

PW, best of luck with your AOS interview on Nov 6th. the microwave is a wonderful invention, isn't it.

Yazi has become frustrated at times with her job search. last week she passed an interview for volunteer position with a local PD. at least it's something similar to what she was doing in the Philipines and will be a good reference from here.

hope all is going well with all the Manila Interview Thread Alumni

So far, So good for us (and I hope for everyone else too!!)!

AOS is in the works, just waiting on USCIS...again :)

we all know the prettiest women in the world come from the Philippines. still prettyfacenbody, you've peaked our curiosity. we're waiting...

p.s. Roy & Yazi, thanks for the good wishes. How's everything?

everything's fine. one of the harder things for Yazi and our daughter to adjust to has been the colder weather, more so Yazi than Effie. nice to know everything going fine with you.

I have noticed this even before... PatientlyWaiting a.k.a. Ate Cora has been missing for quite a long time. Anybody seen her or heard from her? I hope she's doing ok.

She is doing great! Ate Cora sent me a PM about two weeks ago...

Hello everyone,

Thank you for thinking about me. I have not been "missing in action" but have been lurking lang. I visit VJ almost daily but don't have time to post anymore because the Blushing Bride is now the Maid of Honor, que horror! (chimay sa bahay, in other words). From the time I get up at 6am, it's all wifey, mommy, dog sitter and household chores until the end of the day but it's worth it (but I miss my maid of honor sa Philippines huhuhu).

Doug and I are also busy looking for a house and it takes a lot of time and patience.

I'll try to post once in a while kapag may time. I'm typing this while waiting for my laundry to finish. Buti na lang may washing machine/dryer. Habang naglalaba pwede pa ako mag-vacuum at magligpit-ligpit. I don't really know how to cook so I'm also learning how to cook. Pag tinatamad na ako, I just feed my son and Doug yung mga TV dinners. Isalang lang sa microwave, voila, dinner is served hehehe.

My interview is on Nov. 6. Good luck to Scott and Mirasol.

Hello to all my oldtimer-friends out there.

PW

Good to see your post again PW (Pretty Woman)! Yeah, I kinda noticed that I haven't seen you for awhile. Glad to know everything's ok with you.

Good luck with your AOS interview! It's coming closer so I'm sending bunches and bunches of good vibes.:thumbs:

Thank you too Sheriff...

Hmmmmm... :lol::lol::lol:

P.S. I'm a "Maid of Honor" too but loving it... My husband said he has never met anybody as organize as I am. HA!

Question on AOS application:

Hi, we got married last Friday October 26 and we are again in the process of filling-up the forms for the AOS application.

My problem is: I am pregnant. When i had my medical exam at St. Lukes last August, i was already 15 weeks pregnant and therefore did NOT receive any vaccination as it would be harmful to the baby.

I'm now 5 1/2 months pregnant and still couldn't comply with the vaccination requirement. How do we go about this? Can we still file AOS and have this requirement waived with the condition that i will get my shots soon after i give birth?

HELP! We're hoping to file our AOS application this November. :help:

Preparation for Adjusting to Life in the United States

HOME: Get a youtube.com account so she can watch Filipino shows/soap operas that she likes (if interested). Some folks get the Filipino Channel via cable/Direct TV/Whatever. Oh, you'll have to get deeply involved in showing her around the city and getting her out of the house. As Haole stated, if you have a home computer, be sure to have internet connection along with a webcam and microphone so that she can chat with friends and family back home and everywhere else. Consider setting up a webpage together so both of your families can share and review current events, pictures, and etc. Friendster is huge in the Philippines so have your significant other set-up an account to connect or reconnnect with friends and family.

FAMILY: If she has a Smart or Globe account, tell her to keep it active and check whether her family can eload her account. That way they can text her cheaply. Consider getting an international text package with your local carrier or do a cost analysis on having that versus loading the Smart or Globe account. In addition, if your family is close by, try to keep them engaged in communicating and social events with your wife.

COUPLES: Check here on VJ to see if any couples live in your area so that the wives can mingle and hopefully develope friendships. She might be shy about this so you will have to take the lead and make it happen.

HEALTH: Work out together. Talk walks together. Potentially obtain a gym membership for her or the both of you. If she likes intramual sports, check with the local parks and recreational centers for listings.

SHOPPING: Consider finding an Asian Market where she can gather known ingredients for those awesome Filipino dishes. Also consider finding some Filipino Restuarants in your area (if any exists).

SCHOOL: Another idea is for her to enroll in ESL classes, tech school, nursing school, or whatever (if she is interested).

VOLUNTEER: You might consider checking out volunteer work for her (if she is interested) at the hospital, library, schools, YMCA, and etc (well this is at least until she is able to work).

CLIMATE: Besides the summer months, the US is considerably colder than the Phil so consider purchasing some warmer clothes and shoes before or immediately after arriving in the US.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

p.s. - Hopefully this also helps...
