You should be able to file for the Lifetime Learning Credit. As long as you are in school it will be good.

What is the hope credit?

It is for education tax credits: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc605.html. If you or your hubby are in school, keep your tuition receipt so that you can use it to claim either the hope or lifetime credit.

Has anyone had problems with the phone lines in JA because of all of the rain?

Oh I didn't even think of that!!! :o Well, that could be the reason for the bad connections huh??? I just summed it up as Kevin and his ongoing phone issues...... Guess I am not one to give the "benefit of the doubt" out too readily :hehe: I sure hope the rain slows up,,,,, I would like a little bit of color when I come back.

Jamerican - Have a safe trip to JA this week.

Shrewdgal - we spoke to my in-laws tonight and the connection was pretty good. I hope the rain lets up soon as my father-in-law said that every morning they wake up wondering if school will be in session and the like. I hope you have better connections soon.

Did anyone take their SO out tricker treating on Halloween. My hubby and I went with our neighbor and two friends. He had lots of fun and thought it was so cool how u could knock on peoples door and get candy. I am afraid he is going to take the baby next year to get candy for himself LOL. I have to say things are great since he got here and always get a little better each day  . I just wanted to add that because a lot of times I read how things aren't going the best with some couples. I just want to leave positive vibes. To those having struggles may tomorrow be a new and bright day )!!

One more thing my hubby is crazy he doesn't want me to turn on the heat yet LOL. He is saying he will be wearing shorts when it snows. He is cracking me up. Its November and my heat is not on  . I will wait one more week then I am going to cave in.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!!

Yah, that will change. Andre swore he would never be able to wear long sleeve shirts EVER. That all changed the first time we dipped below freezing. This year, he wore long underwear anytime it was below 60.

Ok, I am trying to get all my stuff in order before heading down to JA on Thursday......what is this "non impediment" form that I am told is needed? Ok forgive me for being a procrastinator but .... yes I waited till the last minute to get all my ducks in a row

Hey Jammy,

Kevin has to get it from the JP or deh same place him get his birth certificate from in his area...it states that he has never been married before and if he was married before he is now free to marry. It cost b/t $90-200 U.S. from what I have been told!

Blessed Gill

 you should try to get on that ASAP!!!! i know some people haven't been asked for it and have gotten approved but it is awlays better to be over prepared just incase...

Yah, you better get on that. And, while people haven't always been asked for it, it is a requirement stated on the paperwork.

You can add him to your car insurance and it won't go up. If you get two cars put them both in your name its cheaper.

Really? When I added my husband to our car insurance it went up because he was a new driver here in the states, at least with Geico, that is, they would not let me insure two cars on one drivers license, at least that's what the lady told me.

I meant that you can add him as a non-driver for those of us that have husbands in JA still and have to prove that we are "legitimately" married.

But, as far as the rate going up when he is here it probably will - although did your hubby have a liscense in JA? If he did I would try to convince them that the entire liscensed time should count... haha

Ours did not go up. But, we just added him to the policy on the one car we have.

Has anyone had problems with the phone lines in JA because of all of the rain?

God, I wish. No, they keep getting through.

Actually, it is funny to me. I've found that if I don't laugh at the foolishness of the whole thing, I will cry eventually. And, honestly, the excuses they come up with crack me up.

You will find that it may drive you crazy. They can be relentless. If you ever want to talk about it, PM me. It's taken me a year and a half to get to the point where I can ignore it and/or laugh at it. Before that, we had many a loud "discussion" on the issue. It wasn't pretty.

If you are up in the Chicago area, let me know. It would be fun to get together again. We didn't get much time to talk. (and if Andre has any single friends up this way..... .lol )

Jackie (F)

We went last October and wanted to do it again this year. Finances just didn't agree this time. Chicago is definately on the agenda as soon as we can.

As far as the friends go.......what do you think I took an instant disliking to you? Do you think I hate you? I wouldn't wish MOST of his friends on my worst enemy! I do know a Jamaican guy I met on another web site, who lives in Chicago, is single, cute as can be, and a real sweeting. Maybe I can arrange that when we come. Thinking he said he didn't live but a few subway stops from Wrigleyville.
