My fiance told me that the gay men are coming out more and more in Jamaica. He said they are not afraid anymore...and often are the "rude" boys and are armed. He told me that there are more men dressing as women too, and that one place I love to party now has a night dedicated to gay night. :o:dead::protest:

Git deh 'ell outta here! Good for dem! Personally, I have no problem with homosexual relationships. It's the one social issue that Ken and myself disagree about! Look, I definately think it's nature. You can't help being Gay, just like I can't help being a woman...it just is! I much prefer that they come out and state their preference rather than do it on the DL. On the DL, is no good for anyone...especially not us women!

It's funny the other day students at the University I work for asked me to be the advisor for the Gay, Straight Student Alliance...I turned them down, not because I didn't want to do it or believe in their exsistence, but cause I couldn't see Ken attending their functions and activities with me...I would feel like a big fraud. Plus, I am already the advisor for Jamaican Student Organization...so being an advisor for those 2 clubs would be like working with Ying and Yang!:lol:(L)-Gill

Some serious Ying and Yang business, fi real!!!:lol:

Wow...well I see this post is ever growing and still going strong. Almost 600 pages and this must be like the 4th installment.

I never thought it would have grown so much over the last two years when I started it. I'm glad that it has become a place for all yankee/yardie couples to meet, chat, share advice and support one another. I know I've been really bad about coming in to visit but life has totally gotten in the way. There was a time that I was so engulfed by the immigration process that I guess once it was over it was nice to take a break. But don't think for a second that you all are not in my thoughts and prayers. I have a bit of news to share, Squito and I are expecting our first child in April. I guess another one bit the dust huh, lol. I remember when Rhonda had me at the top of the baby list. We should've put some money on it because look at how many others got knocked before I did, lol. Anyway, just stopping by to check in and say hello. Hope everyone is doing well.

xo,

Mooma Squitto

Congratulations on your prospective bundle of joy  . Thanks for having the insight to start this thread, it has certainly made this process so much easier for the rest of us to make it through. I would say, I have met some wonderful people on this site, who have helped to keep my spirits lifted up during the lows of immigration

So as far as how you would like to raise your kids, you may just have to compromise and in some ways raise them the way he would like also.

Its all about respect and understanding of one anothers culture in the end. (L)

 I know one of the "issues" my friend had when they had their baby was that he wanted to pierce her ears immediately after baby was born and she was totally against the idea. I guess it's very typical for little babies to get ears pierced in JA right away. Well, it was a big argument and they didn't do it. Now the baby is over 2 yrs. old and she wishes she would have gotten them done when she was a baby! Now she's at the age where she'll play with them or pull them out etc..

What do you ladies think? Since I'm having a girl, I'm sure this is going to come up soon in my house!

I don't know why there's a rush, yes it looks very cute...but, having to clean them everyday, make sure she doesn't pull them out, get stuck in something, lose them, swallow them, etc etc. I personally would wait until she was old enough to be able to take care of them herself. I wasn't "allowed" to get my ears pierced until I was in the 8th grade....my 1st pair.

With the circumcision.....since I was on assistance then and didn't get "approved" when my son was born, he was 18 days old !! It was crazy, he made no noise until they moved him from the warm table to the cold table.

Hmmm, well I'm totally fine with piercing my daughters ears when she is a baby but as far as the boys and circumcision thing.....I don't think I'll do that. I mean is there a medical necessity for it? What is the point? And actually as the boy gets older and becomes a "man", isn't it better for him to be uncircumcised? There's less chaffing that way as I understand.....but heck I'm no man so I really don't know. I just don't know what the point of circumcision is. I guess when I have kids I'll understand it more.

Marlita;

Circumcision is not medically necessary but it is considered hygienic. The foreskin can harbour germs if the "owner" (LOL) not take proper care and clean it properly. the foreskin can also become tight and when the person has an erection the foreskin does not roll back and causes discomfort and pain for them.

Oh ok...so there really isnt a medical necessity for it? Its just about good hygeine? Don't women have the same problem if they dont "clean"? So I guess if the owner is nasty there could be a problem. LOL!! Thats gross. Boys...you need to shower!! I always heard that the foreskin helped men during sex vs not having it. At least this is what guys said. The uncircumcised ones seemed to complain about chaffing with women vs with foreskin you don't chaff. So why do people circumcise like its necessary. I always thought it was odd that something that naturally occurs on EVERYman was medically necessary to remove. Hmmm....this is really interesting.

Girl, I was wondering the SAME thing!

BTW Marlita - congrats on sending off your I-130!

IT'S MONDAY YA'LL  ...HOPEFULLY EVERYONE HAD A NICE WEEKEND!

Blind Man Test

A blind Jamaican man walks into a little restaurant and sits down.

The owner walks up to him and hands him a menu.

"Mi blind, sah, an caan se fe read de menu".

Jus bring mi one fork dat one ah yu customah use arreddy, an mi will smell it an order fram it"

A little confused, the owner walks over to the dirty dish pile and picks up a greasy fork. He returns to the man's table and hands it to him.

The blind man puts the fork to his nose and takes in a deep breath. "Ah, yes, dat's what mi will 'ave - rice nd peas wid jerk fish!"

Unbelievable, and after the blind man leaves, the owner walks towards the kitchen and tells his Wife Dawn, the cook, what just happened.

Several days later, the blind man returns, and the owner mistakenly brings him a menu again.

"Sir, remembah mi? Mi ah de blind man."

"I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you. I'll go get you a fork."

The owner gets a dirty fork for the blind man.

After another deep breath, the blind man says, "Dat smells great! Mi will take de jerk chicken an rice wid broccoli."

The owner thinks the blind man is screwing around with him and figures that the next time the man comes in, he's going to test him.

He returns the following week, but this time the owner sees him coming and runs to the kitchen. He tells his wife, "Dawn, rub this fork on your panties." Dawn does it and hands the fork to her husband.

As the blind man walks in and sits down, the owner is ready and waiting.

"Good afternoon, sir, this time I remembered you, and I have your fork ready for you."

The blind man puts the fork to his nose, sniffs, and says,

"Rass mon, mi neva know say Dawn wuk yah!"

I'm bored sitting here at my pt-time job stuffing envelopes....and searching the web. I LOVE, love, love the author Terry McMillan and was checking to see if she's writing a new book (I've read all of her books to date)...this was interesting what she wrote ...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...7061901718.html

I LOVE the diary of a Gigalo !!! Excellent.... you should email Terry and get that darn thing published. There is also something on www.amazon.com about publishing !!

im sure Terry would be only too happy to publish diary of a gigalo, especially after her soon to be EX-husband turned out to be a gay Jamaican gigalo. Last I hear he as asking USCIS for immunity from being denied permanent residency b/c his life would be in danger if he were to be sent back to Jamaica...:lol: ...Dyam right!!

Gill

Why do you call him a gigalo? Everyone keeps saying that stuff. I just can't help but think since it lasted, what?, 10 years......there had to be something there. Even if it was just a comfortable thing. 10 years is a long time.

Ohhh...you are a lot closer. Rhonda is removing conditions now? Rhonda post your experience okay.

Thank you!

Not much to post yet. I have the exact dates in my signature at the bottom. We sent the paperwork in June. We had his Biometrics appt. in July. We re-scheduled it with no problem because we were going to be out of town during the original appt. They took pics and fingerprints and we were out in about 20 minutes. Haven't heard anything since then. I think they're currently working on January so it will be about 6 more months before we get looked at! When you get the NOA, it states on there that your GC is extended for 1 year. Between that NOA and your expired GC, that is your proof of residence until you get the new GC.

Go for a carrot cake...I am sure you can have a piece on your diet...it being a veggie and all

Jamie, I LOVE the way you think girl!!!:lol:

Rhonda.....what about his driver's license. Was it set to expire when his 2-year green card expired? If so, did Tony go renew it with the NOA?

What has to be done to remove conditions? Do you still need proof of relationship and an interview?

We're in the process of it right now. They're way behind as they are in everything! You need to send lots of proof that you're in a legitimate marriage and living together, etc... There may or may not be an interview - I think it's at their discretion. I have heard that if you did NOT have an interview for AOS (like the people who got forwarded to CA) you WILL have one this time around.

really that is interesting....well i think i will be like mindy and Kelly(jg) and start saving everything!!!

I just color copies an entire year's worth of event pictures today. I am thanking God I scrap them all. It was so easy to copy the pages...they already had the dates, names, places, and even little stories on most of the pages.

I also set up a couple folders where I can just stash stuff when it comes it. When it is time to remove conditions, which is some time in August of 2008, I want to be ready and not scrambling. I've had enough of all that scrambling.

Yeah Jomo, I think it was a comfortable American living that he was enjoying. Once everything was said and done, and he had established himself within the States and had Green card in hand...then he decides that he is gay. I am sorry as I said before, I believe it's nature not, nuture that decides your sexual preference. I honestly think he was taking Terry for a ride the whole time. Terry stated openly that Johnathon (her ex) knew he was a homosexual when they met in JA., however he was more in need of a green card then anything else at that time. Terry also claims that Johnathan had been embezzling money from her company since 1999. Johnathan is also looking for alimony from Terry...so I'm sorry...I really do see him as a Gigalo.

So far I'm on the electricity bill, the water bill and the gas bill, name is on the tenancy agreement, have a baby's birth certificate to show them :), joint bank accounts, receipts for our couches, bedroom set and we're about to take out a car finance agreement in both names...Also on his insurance....

Seems more than enough!!

One quick thing, we have changed addresses since the K1, do we have to send them notification?

If so, to whom?

You did not need all that stuff for AOS on the K-1. I'm thinking you are just applying for the conditional green card. All this stuff we are discussing is to remove conditions for the 10-year green card.

Also, don't forget your marriage certificate.

My hubby was in heaven last night our friend cooked us a real Jamaican meal. I think I finally learned how to cook one meal at least last night.

Does your husband cook?
