Wow. I went away for a few days and now that I'm back it took me like three days to catch up in this thread. Congratulations, Texas Bound, you must be very excited.

Have to come back with more later since I'm at work.

Oh yeah, forgot to say, I'm glad that your husband is okay, sjb.

Many of you are knowledgeable about this visa process and your experience is valued. Your comments about the adjustment that the foreign fiance(e)s will have to make when coming here are also valuable.

I have read many of the comments in this thread about Jamaican men and I feel the need to add some support to the comments made by AlienUKGirl, Trinilad and shermike. Some of the comments have been a little harsh and although you may not realize or acknowledge it, some have been very general. Completely understandable that whatever your experience with your mate has been, you have experienced it and it has actually happened. But sometimes the comments do paint the picture that most, if not all, Jamaicans coming here to live are coming with the expectation that things are easy here and that they will live richly.

There was a comment made probably a couple of weeks ago about food that I had to shake my head at, but I didn't comment at the time. Part of it is a culture clash. I think a lot of patience and open-mindedness is necessary to make the adjustment go as smoothly as possible. Just my late payment of $.02.

But again that is my opinion and I did not expres it in a nasty or offensive way. I try my best to say little as possible on here because sometimes you get the feeling that a lot of people looking for support no matter how outrageous they sound. But when stuff is cruddy, I am going to break my silence and say so.

I love you Trini :luv: Your opinions are ALWAYS welcome  It's nice to have different perspectives and opinions on matters.

Ditto, I respect your opinions. The truth truely hurts. You can always be real and to the point where I am concerned. I think when we are going through certian situations, the poster becomes emotional and will post someting as a cry for help, and not realize the respose they recieve may not be what they are expecting. We must all understand that responses are not going to always be positive. I take opionions for what they are opioions. We should all respect that.

Things are good here. The kids are soo good. I've been so blessed with 2 good ones. However, we're on the cusp of those teenage years...so will see soon enough.

JG (jomo's girl)...I havent had a chance to get on there yet. Been very busy. Send me the details again...I'm not sure if I still have them. DRock is a nut and tell him that I say hey.

I have no plans to get back down there yet. Mortgage kicking my butt still. JamaicaDiva told me about trying to get down there for Sumfest....I would love too. I'm thinking about it. And actually hanging out with her tonight for some reggae.

Hello to the others..Vets and Newbies. Continued success and happiness!!!!

 WAIT, are you speaking about Damien (your hubby)?? Oh, I though you meant Damian Marley. Girl, now you know I love me some Damian M. because I am just ranting on and on and on. I am laughing so hard right now, I think I am going to cry. (Inhale/Exhale). Ok, I am sorry. But yea, Gyptian is a good artist. I have never seen him perform in person though. And as you know Damian is another fav of mine. I think I need to take a nap now.

:lol: you are funny. I love Damian Marley too. He's coming to town with Stephen sometime in May.

Stephen is in Kansas City tonight.

Every relationship is different and goes through different processes. And every MAN is different, Jamaican or not. I do agree with what someone said above, that sometimes it seems they tend to go through the exact same things. Maybe it is a cultural thing....I don't know. I don't think comparing what has happened to someone personally should be considered stereotyping.

What I do want to say is tha I don't think anyone should jump on anyone else when they make a statement you don't like. If someone is going through a particularly difficult situation, I try to listen to them and support them, even if I don't completely agree with how they are handling the situation. While my own marriage is wonderful and I can't complain, I have been through a few rough relationships to this point. I see similarities in what some others have said on here. Had I read their stories sooner, perhaps I could've saved myself some heartache. It would be far more beneficial to take from this site what you need, whether it be congratulations, support, advice, whatever and leave behind constructive comments. Tearing apart each other is not beneficial to anyone. I've been on one other web site, in particular, where you pertty much palpate the hate. What's the point?

That being said, I don't think you have to censor yourself. Like the one person said, we are not a cheering squad. We do not have to agree with everyone and everything. But, a little tact goes a long way. Say your comments in a less hateful manner and you will still get your points across.

Amen! Be truthful.. but Kindness, tact and understanding goes a long way and is heard with open ears. Whereas impatience and judgement only shows your ignorance and insecurities.. (L)
