How does stuffing envelopes work??

Does it pay well?

I'm the "computer operator" for a financial advisor, been working here for 2 1/2 yrs. I do all the "behind the scenes" stuff...including stuffing flippin envelopes of his client letters (BS, who cares letters) every month. It's about 400 and then another 400 next week.

It's a VEEEERY easy job. He works out of his home in a nice "business" setting, he just recently hired 2 new people (the guy, service asst... is very cool, but the girl, sales asst... is VERY high maintenance and a bee-atch..thinks her you know what doesn't stink!--which is difficult to deal with, we don't even speak to each other) and since there's no room "in the office", I'm now in one of his daughters (huge) bedroom that's here in the basement. So I have PRIVATE time, a TV and getting the phone hooked up soon. He can be extremely difficult to work for sometimes...having OCD. I also babysit (the have 4 kids), sometimes for them as well. He pays me pretty good, for what I do and I just got a bonus 2 wks ago.

I got this job from a temp agency, here in the area.

Sorry Jomo -- I get the ####### AWARD!! We don't have to file until next April and I started collecting stuff right after we got the GC.......I already have a stack that's over 100 pages......:whistle:

I was just reading this article in one of those "woman's" magazines yesterday....I will post what it is when I get home. They had a bunch of "at home" jobs you can do. It looked really interesting <<mostly computer type jobs>>

[speaking of when and how we met, we haven't compared stories in a long while. How did you ladies meet your boyfriend/fiance/husband? How long did you know each other before you filed? How many times have you been to Jamaica?

I met my SO when I was 16. Every summer my mom would send me and my sister to JA to stay with my grandmother. I was inside my grandmother's shop selling ice cream to one of the kids and my SO came in and smiled asking for free ice cream. I told him to get lost and he said only if I would get lost with him lol. It's been 4 years and 7 trips since then. He proposed to me this past summer. We're taking our time and going the CR1 route after I graduate. Just keep telling myself that good things come to those who wait

My family had planned a trip back to JA for my Godparent's 50th Anniversary, in November 2006.

I was staying at a hotel near MoBay and Ken worked there! He said 'Hi' my first day there and I grumbled 'Hi' back and kissed my teeth at him...Surprisingly, he laughed at my response. I was so anti-love and men at that point. I didn't want to hear it. Everyday, he would find me and make sure to say 'Hi' or ask me 'How I was doing?' (Most days I'd just give him the death stare and tell fi leave me alone) Well, he asked me to go to dinner with him, I laughed at first, then realized I hadn't really gone out since I had gotten to Mo Bay, I agreed. We went to the Ville and the Pelican for a Wacky Wednesday party and danced the night away! I hadn't had such a good time in YEARS!!

We went to Coral Cliff the next night and just talked until I missed ther darn bus back to the hotel. And we went out the night after that! I really started to warm-up to him and enjoyed his company, sense of humour and his passion to do better in life!

He told me I would marry him on the the day I left and I just laughed in earnest then.

We exchanged numbers and I went home. We've spoken every single day since. Sometime around Christmas we realized that we had fallen in love and I was scared witless! I went down to JA in February and had a really good time with Ken again. Then I went back to JA. with my sons in June, (I needed to make sure that they would get along with him.) And the last night I was there he asked me to marry him and surprisingly ...I said yes!!

I actually started thinking about filing for him in December, but took my time and made sure it all clicked. I did. I have never been so happy. I have finally found my soulmate. I didn't believe in that ####### before, but little by little this man broke the wall around my heart and showed me what TRUE love is, and for that I am forever grateful and thank God EVERYDAY for blessing me with such a good, kind, motivated, and sincerely sweet man.

So I say all this to say...Never say never...cause you never know what Jah has in store for you!

Blessings (L),

Gill

Sooo tru Gill! Beautiful story :)

I'm bored sitting here at my pt-time job stuffing envelopes....and searching the web. I LOVE, love, love the author Terry McMillan and was checking to see if she's writing a new book (I've read all of her books to date)...this was interesting what she wrote ...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...7061901718.html

I LOVE the diary of a Gigalo !!! Excellent.... you should email Terry and get that darn thing published. There is also something on www.amazon.com about publishing !!

im sure Terry would be only too happy to publish diary of a gigalo, especially after her soon to be EX-husband turned out to be a gay Jamaican gigalo. Last I hear he as asking USCIS for immunity from being denied permanent residency b/c his life would be in danger if he were to be sent back to Jamaica...:lol: ...Dyam right!!

How old was he when he got here?

It would be interesting to know the ages of ALL our SO's when they arrived here.

I don't know how old my guy will be when he gets here...so we'll see as time progresses.

Wow...I think I'm the youngest on here..me and my SO are both 20. Not sure how old he'll be when he gets here.

I feel like a baby compared to you all BUT I love this thread because of all the honesty and how everyone shares their experiences. I'm learning so much from you all and I appreciate each and every one of you (L)

I'm DEFINETLY taking my time. I've heard stories about young couples rushing into things and I don't want to be one of those stories.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern. The funeral isn't until Nov 4th so I'm sitting tight until then. I will get to see my SO..haven't seen him since July...life can be so bittersweet sometimes.

Enjoy your weekend ladies :)

I thought I'd share our interview experience with you all

The interview went pretty good. First she swore us in, then she asked for our ID, passports, and birth certifercates. The she asked for proof of any joint assests we had together, which we only had 3 items, 2 bank accounts and proff that he had been added to my insurance package thru my job. Then she asked to see any pictures that we had. We showed her some of the wedding photos, she asked who was there, and I told her and there was a group photo us all of us. She then asked Neil if any of his family was there. He told her no and that we were planning on renewing our vows in JA next year on our anniversary and that his family and which ever family members of mine that were going would be there.

Then she asked me why I hadn't changed my last name... And we told her that I wanted to wait until we renewed our vows on our anniversary, which she was ok with ( I was kind of worried that it was going to be a problem). She asked for my check stubs and income tax returns then she asked me were I worked, how long I'd been there and what my position was. Then she asked me if I had brought the phine bills from when he lived in JA?? I told her I didn't have bring them because it wasn't listed in the form of things to bring. The she wanted to know how and where we met, and how many times I been there to visit him. She looked thru my passport to verify what I'd said. She then asked if we had been on any short trips or a honeymoon. Which we told her no because we were saving that money for the trip and wedding in JA which would be in June. Then she asked if I had any kids, how many and if they lived in they house. She really didn't ask Neil very many questions, it was like I was the only one being interviewed. The only questions she asked him was his name, address, phone number and birthdate, and of he was working yet. Then asked me if went to the K-1 interview and if we came back to the states together. She then started checking things off in our file and said everything looked good and that he would receive his green card in the mail in 2 weeks. She also told us we would need to file to lift conditions 90 days before his green card expires. When you go, take everything you have, including the things from your K-1 interview. Just in case they ask for it they may not, but it's better to have it just in case.
