Speaking of when and how we met, we haven't compared stories in a long while. How did you ladies meet your boyfriend/fiance/husband? How long did you know each other before you filed? How many times have you been to Jamaica?

I was on a Single's Cruise on Carnival. It stopped off in Grand Cayman and then Jamaica. While in Jamaica, I went on a "booze cruise" to Dunn's River Falls. Tony worked on the catamaran that took us on the cruise (the Cool Jazz). It was love at first sight!! :luv: We flirted, he got me drunk on rum punch and the rest is history  I gave him my number when I got off the boat and he called me about a week later. We begin talking every day, and 2 months later I went back to JA. I was there 6 times altogether before he moved here to the U.S. Since then, we've been back 3 times together and him once by himself for a funeral. We really only knew each other for about 5 months before we filed the K-1. We didn't officially get engaged until after we sent in the paperwork!! We just knew we couldn't live without each other and if we had to get married more quickly than we liked, so be it. This December, we will have been married for THREE years (L):luv:

Nice story, Rhonda.

I met Andre when I was in Jamaica visiting my boyfriend. He was a bartender at our hotel. I visited a few more times and became friends. He would call me from time to time. One trip ended with me bruised and crying, Andre setting us up with two slightly unusable hotel rooms side-by-side (maintenance man friend), and him talking me through some issues. 2 months later (yah, I know, I'm really slow and stupid sometimes), I broke up with the guy my friends had dubbed Jacka$$, and Andre and I started talking more and more. I knew him a little over a year when we filed. By the time he came here, I had visited him 14 times. Today, we have been married almost 16 months. Life is good. Oh, and BTW, Jacka$$ is still trying to stalk me LD. Some things never change.

ha ur story sounds like mine i was visiting someone else when i met chris chris had nerve to come over and ask me softly is that your boyfriend! i was like this man is crazy while i was sitting next to my then friend and his back was turned looking at tv in the bar yeh but when i visited that guy that trip i knew he was not for me and yes he still trying to get back and says he knows what he did wrong and keep apologizing...i say no sir i have moved on!

Ok, so I had just finalized my divorce in October 2006, after 8 years of marriage 2 actually married and 6 years of 'trying' to make it work separately. I swore I would NEVER EVER get married again. That was just NOT for me!

My family had planned a trip back to JA for my Godparent's 50th Anniversary, in November 2006.

I was staying at a hotel near MoBay and Ken worked there! He said 'Hi' my first day there and I grumbled 'Hi' back and kissed my teeth at him...Surprisingly, he laughed at my response. I was so anti-love and men at that point. I didn't want to hear it. Everyday, he would find me and make sure to say 'Hi' or ask me 'How I was doing?' (Most days I'd just give him the death stare and tell fi leave me alone) Well, he asked me to go to dinner with him, I laughed at first, then realized I hadn't really gone out since I had gotten to Mo Bay, I agreed. We went to the Ville and the Pelican for a Wacky Wednesday party and danced the night away! I hadn't had such a good time in YEARS!!

We went to Coral Cliff the next night and just talked until I missed ther darn bus back to the hotel. And we went out the night after that! I really started to warm-up to him and enjoyed his company, sense of humour and his passion to do better in life!

He told me I would marry him on the the day I left and I just laughed in earnest then.

We exchanged numbers and I went home. We've spoken every single day since. Sometime around Christmas we realized that we had fallen in love and I was scared witless! I went down to JA in February and had a really good time with Ken again. Then I went back to JA. with my sons in June, (I needed to make sure that they would get along with him.) And the last night I was there he asked me to marry him and surprisingly ...I said yes!!

I actually started thinking about filing for him in December, but took my time and made sure it all clicked. I did. I have never been so happy. I have finally found my soulmate. I didn't believe in that ####### before, but little by little this man broke the wall around my heart and showed me what TRUE love is, and for that I am forever grateful and thank God EVERYDAY for blessing me with such a good, kind, motivated, and sincerely sweet man.

So I say all this to say...Never say never...cause you never know what Jah has in store for you!

Blessings (L),

Gill

DonnaJay - can you ask for an extension? I believe you can do the K-1 again.

I met mr jengles after my friends dragged me back to JA we had gotten free vouchers to stay at Sunset Jamaica Grand and I just wasn't interested in going back and not meeting anyone. Mr Jengles had just started working for the bus company that took at to the hotel. my friends were going gaga for him, but I just couldn't see it. I asked him where was the party at the rest stop. but in talking to him i realized he was my type in goals and that was it the rest is history. We have been married for 14 months

They went on and on about their fine "boyfriends" and everything that happened on the trip. I asked how long that had been with their boyfriends...and all of them admitted that this was their first trip to Jamaica. When I asked them how they dealt with the attention from gigalos...they all looked at me like I had two heads and said what gigalos?

Oh boy  I can already see how this is going to end. It's sad but I see it happen all the time while I'm down there. Last time, a guy on the beach was trying to get ME to give him money - even after I pointed out my JA husband napping on a nearby lounge chair  He wanted me to sneak him $20 so he could get home. I told him to take a Juta bus or route taxi and no way would it cost him $20! That got rid of him!!

The guys in JA are so bold-faced. I was leaving JA and checked into the airport at 4:30am and spent some time outside with Mike before I had to go through customs/immigration. As I was going through security this guy was trying to pick me up. I looked at him with disbelief in my eyes. It is so sad, because most of them is just looking for an easy ride and don't care sho they pick up.

Welcome back Claire...we would love to see some pics.:dance:

Ummmm....in the 10 yrs I've been going to Jamaica, that's how they've ALWAYS been !!!! Anywhere, everywhere...even with my son at my side !!! Everytime we've gone out to catch our ride to Negril, the group of men/boys sitting there.... "1st time to Jamaica" and proceed to TRY .....and I've been 26x !!

Hey ladies...I want to post something that I read back in 2003. It is purely fictional...and I didn't write it. The author stated that she is fine with others using it. So here is goes:

MY GUY IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF,:angry: ITS SO HARD TO GET HIM TO UNDERSTAND WHEN I SAY I AM TIRED I JUST WANT TO REST ,AND ITS LIKE HE ALWAYS TRYING TO COMPARE HOW THINGS ARE DONE IN JAMAICA TO HOW WE DO THINGS IN THE USA DO ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEMS.

everything he want to compare like how we raise our children to the way they raise there children its really getting on my nerve

Sorry, but this makes me laugh.... because this stuff will continue to be like that even AFTER he gets here!!!!! Doesn't matter (as we've posted on several times in past posts), they don't "get it", "feel it", "know it" UNTIL they get here!!!! Craig STILL throws in my face.....even last night......well, in Jamaica we did it .....that way!!!! I have to remind him (15 months later) that you are IN THE US OF A !!!! We do NOT do that here !!!

Just to comment on how these antics may continue when your SO gets here...I think thats all well and true cause just cause they get to the US doesnt mean that they are all of a sudden "American" and checked their Jamaican identity at the door.

I think the adjustment is better depending on how un-selfish your SO is, and how much they are willing to compromise with you. I sometimes think that we as Americans are so used to many people of different countries and cultures coming here or living here but we like the fact that those people "melt" into our pot rather than just get "tossed" in. So don't hold on to the idea that he will be the same way when he gets here. Let him know how you feel and how the two of you should begin working on your compromising skills now cause you are both coming from 2 different cultures and societies so BOTH your ideas and notions are valid and correct its just that they dont always agree with each other. You can't really bash him for having a different opinion than you cause his opinion is all he knows.

So as far as how you would like to raise your kids, you may just have to compromise and in some ways raise them the way he would like also. I think these are all just the BASIC concepts that come into a marriage whether from 2 different cultures or not. I think some of us on here have more problems cause of how fast the marriage came before the discussion of these types of compromises....so you just have to work a bit harder in the beginning. Its all about respect and understanding of one anothers culture in the end. (L)

Good and true points.

I think one thing that always bugs me is people seem to think that once their SO arrives, all problems just disappear cause they are not together. While the LD issues disappear, new ones appear. It's a bumpy road. Worth it, I think. But, not as easy as you may envision it.

Andre won his first race. Lost the 2nd. At least he didn't fall, dive on the concrete, or lose a shoe like some men. And, he got a free t-shirt.

I have never laughed so hard in my entire life. (Ah, the things we do for our kids!)

did he get a pedi before he went?????

OMG..........he so balked at that idea. No freakin' way!!!!

really??? yet he like to wear high healed shoes

He doesn't like to wear them, silly. He just adores his step-daughter enough to do it for her.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

De Crotchless Panties

This Jamaican woman felt that her love life was slipping because her husband had no more interest in sex. While shopping one day, she passed an adult shop and saw some crotchless panties, so she decided to buy one and try to use it to excite and seduce him.

That evening she took a long bath, put on a favorite perfume, and then she put on a sexy negligee and her new crotchless panties. Then she slithered into the room where her husband was watching TV as usual.

She stands right in front of him, with one foot resting high on the ottoman, negligee wide open, and whispers "yu wah some a dis?".

Her husband looks up at her wide-eyed and says. "No sah, yu mad, yuh nuh see wha it do to yu panty!"

Hi everyone,

Everything is going good with me and SO. He is already starting to get a little depressed about not finding work but I just keep telling him to hang in there. We went to the SSA office on the 16th so hopefully he will get a card soon so that he can work. I haven't read anything beyond this page so if anyone was asking me something directly you should PM me the quest as i have gotten a few already. When I left we were on page 536 and now we almost on 600.....can't read all of that.

work?? so soon...wow...did he get his work authorization stamp?? i can't remember if he did or not....well tell him to start going around to jobs and getting some aplications and start getting that all ready so when he gets his social number all he has to do is fill that out and hand in the applications...give him something to do....

So yesterday............The limited the race to 50 guys. Butt ugly shoes. Do men actually see us as wearing such ugly shoes? One guy had zebra striped KISS boots.

They taped the shoes on to try and limit casualities. Made them sign all kinds of waivers.

10 groups of 5 men raced. Whittled the winners down to 2 groups of 5. Whittled down to 2 guys. The prize....4 front row Hanna Montana tickets and 4 back stage passes. (BTW....whoever commented on the Jonas Brothers in a previous post....they are the opening band.)

Well, I now know that "immaturity" has a HUGE factor one that was brought out in FULL FORCE after he got here. Never saw that person, ever before. I mean in my situation, pure stupidity is the reason for his lack of adjustment. Trust me, I've been patient, I have compromised to the fullest extent....now LEARN from your mistakes and grow from the experience !!!

Talking and doing ....easier said than done (in alot of cases) !!!!

Bash him....shoot, that's just tooo darn funny !!!

Then again, I think my relationship is different from all the others??

Question for those that have their SO's here AND have been here awhile........how many can say their SO "changed" when they got here?
