Did you really think things were going to speed up once he got here?

It's just the beginning of the fun. Keep the patience.

What frustrated us the most is that we called before going out to the office and we were not advised that we should wait 3 weeks before trekking down there. It was such a waste of time, but we will be patient. I am hoping that it is in fact in progress and he will receive it soon! The man is ready to earn his keep.

Thanks Marie and jamerican -- it is going to be an adjustment for him. According to him, Miramar is Kingston 21; he says it is like Jamaica only cleaner :lol: It is amazing having him here and it feels like a dream. I feel like I am dreaming and any moment I am going to wake up and he is not beside me. It is such a dream come true...I know it is not going to be an easy transition, but to have my best friend here with me is AMAZING.

The most disappointing aspect thus far is that he will have to wait 21 days to go to the Social Security office to get his SSN. Since all the changes, there has been some issues with issuing SSC because some applicants have been going into the SSA office and applying for the SSC while the Immigration agency is also issuing one for them; so people have been getting 2 SSNs. Honestly it concerns me that some disconnect is still happening between government agencies -- isn't this how 9/11 occurred?

So apparently the whole Social Security BS is that if he doesn't have a SSC within 21 days, we should go back to the office and then they have to check the master list to see if his card is being processed; if he is not on the list, then they can start the process of getting his SSC...#######???!!!!! Since graduating from HS, hubby has been working, so he doesn't know what it is like not making his own money; I know there is going to be a job on his horizon because his boss from his last job is trying to talk up some suppliers in Florida, to hook him up with something. So this is frustrating for him!

I remember when we got off the plane together and landed here in Cali - and having him sleep next to me in my home...it was so surreal. Cherish every moment!

Don't fret over SS - the first few weeks should be of him getting used to being in his new environment. Let him enjoy being here and getting settled before you start the job hunt.

Congrats (L)

Thanks Jonesie...Honestly, I want him to take this time to relax and get use to the environment, but ah him waan go out deh and do him tings. Mi nuh know why him no waan chill out and get him bearings together, but he is used to working. I totally appreciate that he wants to jump into the role of provider - it's why I love him so

You are lucky my cell phone bill was $3500 with verizon. I called and asked for a payment plan and i was told i could pay $500 a week until it was paid off. I said if i could afford 500 a week i wouldn't need a payment plan. Thats when Corey got a mega phone and told me i was high maintence. LOL

Hey guys,

Have not been on here so long. Thought i would play catch up, but 527 pages is too much for my poor soul to read. See a few familiar faced and so many new ones. Damn, these Jamaican men must be doing something right!

Hubby and I are doing great. Going back to JA for Xmas. Out 3rd trip since she moved here last year. We almost forgot we have immigration issues to deal with in two years when this conditional status needs to be lifted. So busy living, USCIS is the furthest from our minds.

So much has changed since my day. Last year this time we were so nervous about an interview. Now all she is scared about is graduating from college. She should be done in Spring 2008. whopeee. Can hardly wait.

For all the new people on here, I am reading the messages and see things have changed so much. But just remember, love move mountains. It is such a beautiful thing and just keep the faith. It has to work, Failure is not an opyion

Till next time.

Oh my this sounds painful......have you ever tried Accupuncture? It truly works. I have a strong gene of sickle cell trait so I get horrible joint pain in just about EVERY joint in my body. You should try it. I'm always for natural medicine before the other stuff if it works. Your insurance should cover most of the fees.

I agree! I don't know what happened with the original idea of how the K3 works but its really not worth it cause its a non immigrant visa just like the K1 so once he gets here, you'll have to rush the AOS process and pay more money up front. The time usually isnt but 2 months quicker on average than th CR1, but at least with the CR1 you'll be done for awhile.

You should read the CR1 visa forum, you'll see lots of reasons why people are going this route. Even K1 people are deciding to get married and do CR1 cause the K1 is expensive now. One thing you should know is the K3 is free when you start your Cr1.....you can always choose which visa you want to proceed with once it get going.
