Hi Ladies,

For those who live in NY I'm looking for a good African Hair Braiding shop in Brooklyn. I know they have one at each corner but just wanted to know which ones are better. I'll be in NY Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanks,

Anna

I had a pair of Coach heels he wore in Jamaica one Christmas. I think they were 3 or 4 inches though. He was hysterical just trying to walk in them.

 Ummm... why was he wearing YOUR high heels?!!!

We were a little tipsy and he said something about it being easy to walk in heels. I said, then go for it.

Speaking of heels......so last night, after digging through my closet and his foot being too big and fat for any of my heels, we took off to Payless to buy him a pair. People were laughing and staring at this Jamaican guy in high heels running down the aisle. We settled on a pair of white strappy 3" wedge heels. At home, he spent most of the night running back and forth on the back porch. I was crying with laughter almost all night. I'm sure the neighbors think we are nuts.

I have to admit that he is a better man than me. I Ain't wearing them heels for no reason.

I remember a few year back I saw some guys participating in a race called "walk a mile in her shoes" men wearning their wives shoes (heels) for a mile for charity. It was one of the funniest things that I had ever seen. :D, just imagine some fat with a beard trying to walk down the street in heels.

question - what is an "I-94" and how does it relate to a k-3 visa, i'm filling out the 485 and its asking for a "i-94" number

That is what we got stapled to Andre's passport when he came through customs the very first time in the U.S. It's the arrival date and stamp, right?

yep, I think it has some other numbers on it as well.

Thanks Marie and jamerican -- it is going to be an adjustment for him. According to him, Miramar is Kingston 21; he says it is like Jamaica only cleaner :lol: It is amazing having him here and it feels like a dream. I feel like I am dreaming and any moment I am going to wake up and he is not beside me. It is such a dream come true...I know it is not going to be an easy transition, but to have my best friend here with me is AMAZING.

The most disappointing aspect thus far is that he will have to wait 21 days to go to the Social Security office to get his SSN. Since all the changes, there has been some issues with issuing SSC because some applicants have been going into the SSA office and applying for the SSC while the Immigration agency is also issuing one for them; so people have been getting 2 SSNs. Honestly it concerns me that some disconnect is still happening between government agencies -- isn't this how 9/11 occurred?

So apparently the whole Social Security BS is that if he doesn't have a SSC within 21 days, we should go back to the office and then they have to check the master list to see if his card is being processed; if he is not on the list, then they can start the process of getting his SSC...#######???!!!!! Since graduating from HS, hubby has been working, so he doesn't know what it is like not making his own money; I know there is going to be a job on his horizon because his boss from his last job is trying to talk up some suppliers in Florida, to hook him up with something. So this is frustrating for him!

I didn't realize you were in Florida...YOU ARE SOOO LUCKY! The transition should be an easier one than most being that there are so many people from Jamaica there so he shouldn't be "Longing for" his culture. From what I understand it is the many laws and rules that people have the most difficulty dealing with here in the states. Have fun, don't pinch yourself too many times as you are not dreaming... Patience and persistance DOES PAY OFF!

Thanks jamerican. Any adjustment outside of Florida, we will do it together. Since moving to the US, I have never lived outside of Florida; so that I am okay with :). As we all talked about early on in this thread, I made sure and told hubby no peeing on the side of the road

**********TUESDAY CHUCKLE**********

Enjoy... (L) -Gill (Let me know if translation is needed)

***The Kingston Lawyer and The country Jamaican Policeman***

A lawyer runs a stop sign in Portland and gets pulled over by the

Police. He thinks that he is smarter than the police because he is a lawyer

from Kingston and is certain that he has a better education than any

Jamaican Police. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at

the Police expense.

The Police says," Yuh License an yuh registration, please."

"What for?" says the lawyer.

The Police says, "Yuh didn't come to a complete stop at de stop sign."

Then the lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming."

"Yuh neva did come to a complete stop, Says the Police. License an

registration, please."

The lawyer says, "What's the difference?"

"De difference is dat yuh hav fe come to ah complete stop - dat's de law.

License an registration, please!" the Police says.

Lawyer says,"If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and

stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket.

If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket." That sounds fair.

Get yuh rass outa de vehicle, sar, the Police says.

At this point, the Police drape up de man, pull out his batton and starts

beating the ever-loving hell out of the lawyer and asks,

"Yuh waan me fe stop, ar just slow down?"

Remember when I told you guys that I hadn't been billed for my international calls on my home phone since July? Well, I get the bill today an de eediats chat bout mi owe $1100!!! Dem eediats billed me at .50 cents per minute instead of .19 cents per minute!!!!

I got a nice guy that issued the credit and told me to call back tomorrow to set up payment arrangements since the calls cover several months.

You are lucky my cell phone bill was $3500 with verizon. I called and asked for a payment plan and i was told i could pay $500 a week until it was paid off. I said if i could afford 500 a week i wouldn't need a payment plan. Thats when Corey got a mega phone and told me i was high maintence. LOL
