My SO has a megaphone. The service isn't that bad where he lives and since he got it I've saved a lot of $$$ not having to buy phone cards anymore. When I do call him I use the Sprint calling cards from CVS. For $10 I get about 65 minutes and it doesn't rob me of minutes like some cards/companies do.

Good deal Marie...look out for when CVS has those card 2 for 1...Girl I save up to buy $200-300 dollars worth of calling card at a time! This way you get 130 minutes for $10. Last time I drove around looking for CVS' that were sold out of the cards so I could get rainchecks on the buy 1 get 1  So when I finished all of my ones I bought on sale I have my rainchecks to hold me over til the next 2 for 1 sale.:yes: Plus, they give you 10% more minutes when you renew it at CVS.

Had my blood taken today.....yuck....first time i ever had it done...... :halloween:

OMG!!! How old are you?! This is the FIRST time you ever had blood drawn? Are you sure?

Shoot, I was pregnant at 27 when I had those viles of blood taken from me. I had never had blood drawn like that up to that point?! and now that I'm 42, hasn't happened since that time.....

Lord, well something must really be wrong with me cause i have never had a child so I dont know how much blood they draw, but I have had so many viles of blood in my life I could give about 2 of yall a transfusion. I guess I am odd in that since and never even know it. LOL

So how much do they draw, is it really that much?? I'm actually fascinated with blood drawing...yeah I'm wierd...but like I said I've gone thru it so much its just interestign to see now.

well i am 25 and was never sent to get any blood done...they gave me this drink i had to drink in 5 mins...at first it tasted good then it started to have a BAD after taste.....she found the vein no problem and took 6 yes 6 things of blood.....fun times....

Does your family have a history of diabetes? Sounds like they are testing you for gestational diabetes.

I never gave any blood, besides blood drives, before I got pregnant either. It's not all that common unless you have a family history of problems.

yup....both sides.....my dad is border line

I hear of some people asking for a letter from their congressman to "speed up" or get more information on their case. Is this something that really helps? Also can you only get this letter once your application is already in the system or can you send this letter in with your application?

I'm a bit confused as to what congress can really do.

actually yes it can help...i called mine twice...once when kingston changed it rules about when to come in to hand in papers and another when uscis wouldn't help with info and we got info that was really helpful..i know kim who used to be on here was helped by her congress person to speed up her hubby in fbi checks...got his gc within 2 weeks of her contacting the congress person

Wow Ladies, you were on a roll this weekend.

Jamerican - I am happy that you finally have word on your honey, but you are going to have to handle that...

Luvtravlin - I am so sorry to hear about what you have going on with hubby and his family. I agree that you should have gotten an invitation and it is apparent to me, that Craig would know about the wedding way in advance of 2 weeks. Your fight is with him more than anyone else. I could not imagine Aaron doing that. If I am not invited, I know he is not going and vice versa (the only exception is girls night out)! I am happy that you had some peace, but I am sure this weighed on your mind more than anything.

CaribQueen - I know that they completed the interview scheduling today, were you in the bunch? Milan was successful and was scheduled for an interview date. I am certain that if you were not in this batch, December will be your turn. Keep us posted.

:ot: Gill, Kimmy, the rest of the VJ family - thank you all for all the love and support. Being on here helped me through the last stage of this harrowing process. This certainly made it more bearable. I have to tell you all this, the last 2 times I went home to Jamaica, Air Jamaica was delayed at least an hour. How about when I am going to get hubby, the flights were so on time, in fact coming back yesterday, by the time we got through immigration and into the waiting area, they were calling for our flight to board. It even landed early; I was so amazed. I guess the regular delay came into play at Immigation in Fort Lauderdale - we were there for about 2 hours  (1 hour in the line trying to finally get to the immigration officer's desk and then another hour in the little room where the processing was complete). What a stress!!!!

Thanks Marie and jamerican -- it is going to be an adjustment for him. According to him, Miramar is Kingston 21; he says it is like Jamaica only cleaner :lol: It is amazing having him here and it feels like a dream. I feel like I am dreaming and any moment I am going to wake up and he is not beside me. It is such a dream come true...I know it is not going to be an easy transition, but to have my best friend here with me is AMAZING.

The most disappointing aspect thus far is that he will have to wait 21 days to go to the Social Security office to get his SSN. Since all the changes, there has been some issues with issuing SSC because some applicants have been going into the SSA office and applying for the SSC while the Immigration agency is also issuing one for them; so people have been getting 2 SSNs. Honestly it concerns me that some disconnect is still happening between government agencies -- isn't this how 9/11 occurred?

So apparently the whole Social Security BS is that if he doesn't have a SSC within 21 days, we should go back to the office and then they have to check the master list to see if his card is being processed; if he is not on the list, then they can start the process of getting his SSC...#######???!!!!! Since graduating from HS, hubby has been working, so he doesn't know what it is like not making his own money; I know there is going to be a job on his horizon because his boss from his last job is trying to talk up some suppliers in Florida, to hook him up with something. So this is frustrating for him!

I didn't realize you were in Florida...YOU ARE SOOO LUCKY! The transition should be an easier one than most being that there are so many people from Jamaica there so he shouldn't be "Longing for" his culture. From what I understand it is the many laws and rules that people have the most difficulty dealing with here in the states. Have fun, don't pinch yourself too many times as you are not dreaming... Patience and persistance DOES PAY OFF!

His mom did say somthing about his phone being "mash up" and trying to tell me about his new job and why he wasn't at his last one...

Lets just say...I haven't talked to him but honestly I really don't think talking over the phone LD will get the results I need and I will ultimatly use my trip next month to determine where we stand and where to go from here.

That's a very poor excuse for not calling you  I know you haven't gotten his "side" of the story yet, but..... Keep your head up and don't put up with any sh*t from him  There's no excuse for all the worry and grief he's put you through these past few weeks.

Lord, well something must really be wrong with me cause i have never had a child so I dont know how much blood they draw, but I have had so many viles of blood in my life I could give about 2 of yall a transfusion. I guess I am odd in that since and never even know it. LOL

No, you're not odd! I was thinking it was odd that someone could be in their 20's and never have had blood drawn before!! I couldn't even begin to count how many times I've had it done over the years. Every time your doctor needs to check you for something (thyroid, cholesterol, sugar) usually that's the first thing they do is draw your blood. Shauna - consider yourself VERY lucky that this is the first time you had to have it done!
