I love that joke. Makes me chuckle every time I see it.

If you want some more giggles this morning......We went to a pumpkin patch yesterday. Had such fun....running through the corn field maze, saw a juggler, Andre pushed us around in the wheelbarrow, rides, games, etc. Picked our own pumkins, carved them, cooked some, etc. Andre's first experience with US pumpkins. He's a natural.

But, the best part.............we rode on camels at this place. It was totally cool and amazing. I will post some pictures in the next day or so. I soooooooooo want my own camel!

question - what is an "I-94" and how does it relate to a k-3 visa, i'm filling out the 485 and its asking for a "i-94" number

That is what we got stapled to Andre's passport when he came through customs the very first time in the U.S. It's the arrival date and stamp, right?

Anyway, question that I have is..... should we have been sent a wedding invitation? I mean 150 people were coming to the wedding!! Craig had no clue what his brothers wife's name is.

:oThat is absolutely crazy!! Of course you should have gotten an invitation! We only had about 30 people at our wedding and we still sent out invitations to everyone! That's just rude of them. Not to mention, a little more notice would have been nice.

Marlita,

I have to agree with Rhonda on this one! Even if it was an e-vite via the internet something. However, I do think you hit the nail on the head that they didn't want poor luvtravlin' there to begin wid. Which would make me REALLY pissed wid Craig, cause trust me, I know Ken. If I am not invited, then he is not going ...period!

I remember when I was down in JA. in June, there were some kind of African Pride rally going on in country and one of Ken's friend said "Nuh bodda fi bring deh Browning, we want 'REAL' black people deh!" Well, who told him to seh that? Ken went off!! Him tell 'im friend all kindda claat and then said 'Bwoy, mi neva realize how fool you is! This is what keeps us down. You look at my Empress and doan find she 'dark' enough fi be black. My Lioness know more about our history and culture den your dounce ### does!" He has never spoken to that Brethen again. No matter how much he apologizes to Ken. He is not trying to hear it!

That ish would piss me off to high heaven. I'm sorry Luvtravlin, but Craig needs to come correct with that ish!

Blessings,

Gill

I don't disagree with Rhonda either. I think everyone who is wanted at a wedding will get an invite, via paper, electronic, or voice...but those who you don't wnat there...you dont mention to. At first I was trying to sugar coat how i thought the situation went down...but I think Luvtravlin is a Real chick and apprecitates honesty even if its not always good info.

As far as that "Browning" comment....LAWD!!!!! I got some stories about that #######! I can't stand that word!! Its is nothing but another way to keep us seperated. You don't know how many times I was made to feel like I WASN'T Black just cause of the tint of my skin. At first I didn't understand what the word meant and its full history so I just thought it was like an endearing comment....same way as Black men call you "Babygirl" here in the US, once I figured out the Browning thing I could not stand when people said that to me! Dangit! I'm not brown, I'm Black!!

My husbands mother did not even raise him, dumped him off on his fathers mother to raise, Now she calls monthly telling my husband he should be a ashamed B/C cause him nah tek care him mudda now him a gone a farrin? We ever we go visit she's "like I love U this and I love your wife dat." Thank you fa tek cara D? and bring him to America? Wha? Come on get real. You don't even know me  Then she cries (actual tears) saying my husband was the one she shoulda taken care of, and I'm thinking why now? ...Cause she knows he can file for her to come to the states?? She has her other son call pressuring him to file papers for him mudda.

Aren't some MIL's a real treat? Andre's is a piece of work. She treated him like dirt.....let others treat him like dirt....and now feels like he owe's her everything. It's BS. A constant struggle. I now how you feel brownnskinn.

Hi everyone! How do you guys deal with having your man so far away? I'm missing mine so much. (And I've only been away from him for 6 days, lol.) Just looking for ideas that maybe I haven't tried yet.

Keep busy. I worked two jobs and made cards and scrapbooks. Only thing that kept my sanity.

Good luck to you.

Brownnskin this is so true. Its quite sad how many people in JA view the life here in the US as this wonderful green pastures care free lifestyle and actually "thank you" for taking their child there like you are doing some sort of charity case. Its definitley a cultural thing for Jamaicans to think this was about farrin. But we who have lived here know its not like that for most people living in the States. Granted much more opportunities exist here but many exist to screw you up also.

My husband has already informed me of how he will have to take care of his family when he gets here. He says its just what many people expect when a family member goes a farrin'....that that member has "made it", and will now try to help out all the rest who are still left behind. Its sad...but in many ways it is needed to help out cus lets face it....it is a harder life in JA....I mean we all been there and seen the ridiculous prices on things.

So I have no problem with helping out....I understood that need before I married him and I married into it knowningly, but I also think its my duty to educate the relatives back home as to how its not as "easy" as they think it is, and money dont grow on trees so for them to be dependant on my finances would be ignorant of them.

All I am going to say this this is GOOD LUCK. Whatever you send will never be enough. And, as soon as word gets out, 1/2 of Jamaica will be calling with their hands out.

lots of luck with that....i've been trying to do that for years.....

this is so true...people who mike never talked to just went to school with have been calling for things....and he just told him his mom he would get her some things and his brothers something.....everyone had been calling with there sizes what they want....it has gotten out of hand....

Well here's the thing with this...

People will ask all day long for something but its up to you to get them something if you choose to. I have no problem with buying things for folks cause I like shopping for people. I have 6 siblings and am used ot a huge family and shopping for them so I would like to treat his family the same way. In all honesty his family has done a lot for me...as far as helping pay for the wedding, taking are of me after my accident treating me to gifts and trips and meals and I SOOOOO appreciate them for that and know just how selfless that was for them to do that for me when they hardly knew me...so I guess its just a per case basis in how I return the favor. I am not one to get used for money never have....so if someone starts thinking they are gonna do that its usually cut short right then and there. But I really don't think the "asking", will stop.

mr jengles never got that and he just came back from JA on Thursday, he was told by the immigration officer that he wasn't processed properly when he came in via JFK but Miami never gave him one either?

I don't know exactly what to tell you about that then.

We entered through Miami. And, they nearly did that exact same thing to Andre. They did a quicky thing and then gave him his envelope back and said welcome. When he met up with me, I asked why he still had that and didn't have to see anyone else. Luckily, I questioned before we left the immigration area and they sent us back for that mini-interview thing.

You may have to make some calls on that.

Lord, well something must really be wrong with me cause i have never had a child so I dont know how much blood they draw, but I have had so many viles of blood in my life I could give about 2 of yall a transfusion. I guess I am odd in that since and never even know it. LOL

So how much do they draw, is it really that much?? I'm actually fascinated with blood drawing...yeah I'm wierd...but like I said I've gone thru it so much its just interestign to see now.

I don't think she meant it bad there, Jengles. I had somewhat the same thing....Andre kept telling me how bored he was at home while I was working almost 80 hours a week to support us both. I finally got to the point where I said shut the hell up..... It's not like I want to be doing this. I think she meant it kind of along those lines.
