Do you ladies know if they automatically search your luggage in JA? I am flying into Kingston and have gotten mixed messages. I was told that if you have "nothing to declare" you can sail through and I have heard stories that thye search your bags and put an estimate on your stuff and charge you if they think it costs ove $400. and I have heard that they only chage you if you have electronics. Can you frequent flyers enlighten me, please?

You are not allowed to bring in $400 worth of stuff unless you're a Jamaican citizen. Otherwise (if they catch you) you have to pay taxes on it. Just say nothing to declare when they ask, but keep in mind, they can always search you anyways.

Hey everyone, so when you go visit ur other half do u stay at his /her house or u stay at a hotel.

I always stayed at a hotel and he would come and stay with me there. I'm spoiled and wanted my A/C and hot water!

... Anyone have any remedy for sand flea or mosquito bites...or to prevent them??? I had 120 bites on 1 leg alone!!!!!!

What about bug spray? Off works well but it's kinda stinky. Avon Skin So Soft works pretty good and smells much better.

hotel when i want complete time alone for a few days i sometimes split it half and half stay with ur fiance save money too but the cold water i go crazy

thats what i mite do i know i will not like the cold water

where in JA are u going ? i like doin 2-3 in a hotel if i have the money at least 2 for the first two days and i miss his family so i stay there and talk to his two sisters the always so happy to see me and me them and the kids and the dog haha busta, massive, and soda the other one they had is named love house

Mobay i plan on staying between taken 5-7 i cant wait to see my baby

I have always stayed in a hotel...but this time (next month) I am splitting it up,... first 2 nights at hotel and the last 3 with him and his family. Not sure how that is going to work out though because the last trip we were out at his family's 2 whole days and evenings for sort of a bday party for me and the bugs ate my azzzzz up!!! so a little nervous staying for 3 whole days and NIGHTS.... Anyone have any remedy for sand flea or mosquito bites...or to prevent them??? I had 120 bites on 1 leg alone!!!!!!

Never leave home without your OFF and use the coils at night when you sleep. The last time I went down in September I took a mosquito net from IKEA that you hang over the bed. Cost me 7.99. It was the best thing. That is really good for sleepling and my fiance slept right in there with me. He laughed at first but then he got his azz right in there with me. But, use the OFF every 2hours and the coils when you are indoors.

Yuh blood mussi SWEET!!!! I'm like you they smell me coming from a mile away!! Like dem say..."Yeah bwoys weh a guh eat GOOD tonight!!!! " I usually use Avon's Skin-so-soft...Deep woods OFF and about 2-4 mosquito coil destroyers and it definitely helps to lessen. I know that feeling...yuh itch til yuh just waan fi rip your skin off!

Hi everyone! It has been such a long time since I have been up here. Between relocating, starting a new job, and wedding planning, I have just about lost my mind!! Anyway, for those of you who may or may not know, the time for Gregory and I to get married has finally arrived!! It has truly been a difficult, enlightening, spiritual, journey for us up until this point--but we can finally say that we made it. I think we endured one of the worst "storms" that I hear so much about in life than anyone could ever imagine, and we still have a long way to go, but through it all we just continue to focus on the commitment we have chosen to make to one another. I leave on Wednesday to head down to Ochi, and we'll be getting married on Monday!! He will have some family and a couple of his close friends there, and I will have my family and about 15 of my good friends down there--so we should have a ball. I was initially going to try and catch up on some of the reading up here, but when I realized that it's been well over 2 months--I GAVE UP! (lol) Good luck to everyone, and for those who have had disappointing endings, remember to look to God for strength and knowledge, and all the rest will be taken care of...and with that being said..I gotta go pack!!

Thanks for all your good wishes and advise. I am super nervous because it is the second time I am seeing Mike and that just boils over into a very over-active imagination about all the things that could go wrong. I can hardly sleep at nights and am very tired during the day at work. Lord have mercy on me. LOL. I have butterflies in my stomach everytime I think about walking out of that airport and seeing Mike.

I have stuff in my cases for Mike and my cousin and her children. What do they do if you have stuff that's not yours?

I have been almost every month never been checked i know when i go very late or a time where there are tons of tourists they are in a rush to get u thru. I look for men to check me thru!!! i have never been checked however there is this one girl!! in immigrations she give me a hard time askin too many questions like she fbi ms barnes i will never forget her lol first time she ask why i didnt stay in belmont this time and is it that i dont like it lol then this time she said miss u dont look happy are u sure u want to be here then questioned where i was staying as she did not know where it was then asked for the fiance phone number but all in all everyone else has been nice and i have never been checked this time i do have some kids shoes they are so small i plan on putting them in my purse i also wrap things inside of other clothes double them up and roll them in the suitcase i mix in my fiance clothes with mine randomly this is through mobay airport i have never been to the kingston airport but i think you will be fine

I have to agree. I have been there 5 times in one year and have never been searched. They do tend to ask questions but I just smile and say no. I never had any problems with them searching my items and I always had two big suitcases. You should be fine.

I went 14 times in one year. And, I was bad. I would leave stuff at Andre's on each visit. Then, I would just take a carry on for subsequent trips. Little did they know, I had that carry on stuff full of things people had paid me to bring to them and gifts for the family. When they asked questions, I would just say "oh, all I have is this carry on". I was never searched.

I stayed at a hotel a few times in the beginning and Andre's house after. However, when we go back to visit, we will be in a hotel.....I can't do no water. No electric was bad enough. No water is more then I can take.

You won't need your birth certificate. However, the interview did ask for my passport. So as long as you have that.. which you need to enter Jamaica anyways...you should be fine.

I've been staying at my fiance's for the last 2 years...I've only stayed at a hotel twice in the last 2 years, and that was only 2 get away from his family and friends for a day or two...I must admit, the first few times I stayed with him (having stayed at resorts before then), I was in TOTAL SHOCK! I mean, the whole "no hot water" and outhouse thing really threw me off...but as time went by I just got used to it, and now it doesn't even bother me anymore...besides, it gets costly to stay in a hotel, especially if you go frequently like I do. We are staying at the RIU for our wedding this week though, so I'm on Cloud 9--LUXURY!! And although he won't admit it, I know he'll enjoy the pampering and relaxation. You know, it's amazing some of the things you'll do for love! I wouldn't trade a minute of it for the world!
