Well, I just got back to work after being sick the last few days. I read all 14 pages of the thread that I missed since then. I must say a few things. First, I didn't intend to cause such a stir by my comment about the Jena 6. I was just stating my opinion. I did NOT personally attack anyone or anything anyone said - therefore, I do not understand why there was such an uproar. It was and still is MY opinion that everything involving BLACK people gets turned into a "racial" issue - whether it is or not. If you think it's unfair, fine then say it's unfair. But why does it have to be because they're BLACK? Or because the other boy was white? The situation could have easily been reversed. I did NOT say that I think they deserve the punishment they are being given. I said I was sick and tired of it being a "RACIAL" issue.

Rhonda, THIS IS A RACIAL ISSUE!!! Put it this way, if all the kids involved in this incident had been white, the kids that started the fight would have been suspended...POSSIBLY expelled. But most definitely not charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER!!!!!

You don't know this for a fact.

As a mother of TWO little black boys, I can not seat back and not find indignation in the actions of the Jena DA. Rhonda, do you know what we as black mothers face in America? We have a 1 in 4 chance of our black sons being incarcerated by the age of 18...ONE in FOUR, Rhonda!!!! That's mean I got a 50/50 shot of neither of my sons being locked up, over some foolishness, like what was displayed in Jena.

IF they don't get into trouble in the first place, then you won't have to worry about them being incarcerated. They don't just pluck innocent people off the street and throw them in jail.

Rhonda, I am going to assume that you are not well read on this issue and just chalk it up to pure ignorance on your part. However, I HIGHLY recommend the next time you want to go say something as hurtful and mean as 'people turning everything into a "racial" issue', you do your research first!

Bwoy, it must be so nice to sit back and view everything through your rose colored glasses!

You want to talk about ME being hurtful and mean, and yet look at what you are saying! I simply stated MY opinion. It was not directed at anyone on this board. It's MY opinion and I'm entitled to my opinion. It wasn't directed at YOU. Don't take it so personally. And for the record, I said that what those boys did was wrong. I NEVER said I thought they deserved the punishment they were getting.

I don't mean any harm or ill-will to Rhonda. But her comment was completely out of order and I have NEVER been one to hold my tongue! But, hopefully she will read all of this tonight and understand our plight! Which will soon be hers.

Did you EVEN read my original comment? I'd like to know how it's out of order to state my opinion on a nationally televised subject? You know, I'm even more sick and tired of this whole thing than I was originally!! And THIS is exactly why!

I have never dated a white man.....nor did I ever have any desire to- even though many have attempted. I have dated men from other nationalities-Samoan, Figean, Hispanic, African, cuban and jamaican. Part of my reason was that I never wanted to be a "guinee pig" experiment for some white man who wanted a little "jungle fever". I also never wanted to be with someone who didn't understand and have experienced prejudice 1st hand. There are so many other issues to deal with and honestly I really didn't want to have to explain why something "racially motivated" happened. That is one area I have always felt that we needed to be on the same page.

There are many, many other types of Prejudice besides black vs. white. You implying that someone has never experienced prejudice because they are WHITE is just unbelievable. Just think about it, sexual orientation, age, color, sex, race, nationality, religion, etc... the list goes on and on.

Nope, never even dated any other nationality apart from Jamaican before my husband!!

I don't find white men physically attractive, and I don't seem to have anything in common with black men who aren't Jamaican....

 Hey woman, is your husband black or white? I don't remember. So either you're not attracted to him or you two have nothing in common?!!! :P Sorry, I couldn't resist!

 You are tooooo funny! You know I have never been attracted to an Asian guy. hmmm..... White, Black, African, Italian, Mexican, etc.. but never Asian. It's a big joke between Tony and me that I LOVE the catcher for the Detroit Tigers, Pudge Rodriguez. If he forces me to watch baseball, I have to find something nice to look at! :P

You know what Rhonda, I'm done trying to explain what actually goes on in this country to you, you can sit in your little ivory castle and stick your head in the sand if you would like. We Black mothers, unfortunately do not have that luxury. So, no Rhonda the 'Racial Issues', as you put them will not go away! Because anytime we see inequality, injustice or unfairness towards our own, especially our children, we WILL continue to call lawmakers, legislators, and politicans on it!

You are no longer worth the effort or my VALUABLE time to sit down and respond to your obilivious statements. I can't help someone understand, when they aren't open-minded enough to listen and hear what the other side is saying. Like my Mom used to say Rhonda..."Those who don't hear...mus' feel!" One day...One day, you will know!

Nuf said...It's is Friday... and Rhonda you will not steal my joy today!!! :D:D So you have a GREAT Weekend, Rhonda!

You've GOT to be kidding me!!!!

This forum was started for US to have a place to help each other -- not BASH each other every chance we get.

What is wrong with someone having an opinion? That's just fine if you don't agree with it but do we have to get so nasty?

I have been around (and been a party to) plenty of prejudice in my life. It is what it is. Yeah, it's a shame that in this day and age things like this still go on -- I am sorry for that. I really am. But I don't go around making it worse. Whatever......

U know Mindy, the forum was started to help each other and all that good stuff. But, in turned into a say what u want discuss what you want thread and throw a little immigration in when there is some good news or question. So, maybe some people should give up VJ if they cannot take comments, questions or reactions to statements that are made. If something that was said does not require my comment I will give none, but if there if something does and I feel the statement wasn't just or lacked some kind of follow up, then why can't we ask for clarification.

Like i said before I WILL continue to fight for MY BLACK family, whether it be the Jena 6 or the Little Rock 9. And yes, most times it is about black vs. white and it is sad because we were brought to this country under oppression. So that means we should stay oppressed ? NOT GONNA HAPPEN! where are the indians from whom they TOOK the "Land of the free" ? in some back country ? I want to say that I will no longer participate in this thread, if anyone have a question u can send me a PM. U nuffi seh tings wah u no know bout and call it an opinion at that point it is ingnorance. Until these situations are treated fairly it will always be a "BLACK ISSUE".

Thank all of u guys for helping me thru the last stages of my journey and I know there are many more to some that u guys will help and that is a great thing...MI LOVE unu u hear ! :)!

Your girl..fabulous Kimmy and mi cute daughter ...muahhhh to every single one of you guys and gals !

Wow.....ladies. This morning I come on here all cheerful and see this.

What Rhonda said, while a little harsh in her wording, is her opinion and she is entitled to it. I feel some of the things she said, especially the prejudiced part. Everyone experiences prejudices of one form or another throughout their lifetime. You don't know her story. For you to assume she cannot have experienced prejudice because she is white is an absurd notion.

Those of you that bashed her....and that is exactly what you did.....spoke your own opinions and you are also entitled to them. Like Minfey said, this is a forum where we share ideas and opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs.

To the person who commented on what we talk about on here, this is a Jamaican thread. We are allowed to talk about anything and everything Jamaican. Since we all are associated with Jamaica some how or another, anything pretty much goes. If you wanted to talk strictly immigration, there are plenty of threads for that too.

If you want a treat, go read a MENA thread. They argue all the time about differences of opinions.....with dignity and grace. There is a lot to learn from them.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast
