Ok ladies where are you getting this ackee and saltfish from?!! I havent looked to deeply yet, but I cannot find it. Are you bringing it from JA, or is there a place where you live or an online store. Help a sista out, cause my mouth is salivating!!

I have found one store here where we live that sells some things from the Island.. A tin of ackee is $14.

Good Jesus Christ!!! $14!!!! Ackee is going to waste over in JA. There's an ackee tree in EVERYBODY'S yard! Ackee on the roadside, ackee in the street, ackee blown all over the stinkin' place, why is it so expensive?

Here is a picture of a Jamaican 40 leg http://www.peleyard.com/Jamaica%202007/Ani.../40%20Legs.html and other Jamaican animals.

They come into the room with brooms and flashlights whispering in patois about forty-leg something or another. Turned out it was a "forty-leg" that pinched his toe and ran up under the bed. I guess its some sort of Jamaican insect with forty legs and pinchers that resembles a garden snake. The riped the bed apart, covers, matteress, and never found this forty-leg critter.

Oh my gosh, I would just die :o It sounds like a centipede to me. Some people also call them daddy-long-legs. We have them here in the states, but they get much bigger in JA. Tony hates them too.

That is why I stayed at a hotel each and every time I visited JA! :P Yes, I'm spoiled but I can admit it!

OH DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I almost threw up when I saw this picture. Thank God I did not see this creature when I was there, or I woulda likely high tailed myself right out of Jamaica!! Now I see why Evan was so obsessed and could not got to sleep without finding where it went.

Finesse - Congratulations on having gotten the passport in hand. I am so happy for you :dancing::dance:

VJ Family - Thank you all for the great preparation. I don't think we could have done this without you. I will post the experience in the Embassy link, but I can say, it was no more than 5 minutes that we were interviewed for before she approved us. Yippee! That's GREAT!

So I called immigration at the airport in Charlotte NC to see if they would stamp my fiance's visa for work eligibility and they said yes. All he has to do is ask for the stamp and an immigration officer should do it. I did call Philly's airport about the same thing and they said no. I don't understand why they all don't just do it.

Let us know if this works. I thought JFK was the ONLY airport that still gave out work stamps. I agree - they should all do it.

But, I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that post is now making me a little nervous! That's so sad! I assume they were all different types of visas, not just K1 or K3's? Anyway, all I can do is pray that when the time comes for us, Jah-jah will shine down his blessings, and we will get through.

Again Baby Girl, so so happy yuh git through...dat ah di greatest ting!
