I went to visit my husband last week and got his police certificate. There is a line under his name for his signature but it's not signed. Should this be signed before sending to NVC?

Ok, dem really seh u can find a Jamaican anywhere and slowly but sure mi a figure seh a true :)

I heard home prices r descent there ?

OMG !!..u guys have me dying here..my husband thinks I'm nuts..laughing at the PC screen..hehee :lol::lol: But yeah ABSOLUTELY no bugs for me...no sir !

Jamerican how's is Oregon ?

Wellllll.... let me just say the nickname I give it is "granolaville". This is the home of nike...so everyone is either walking or riding a bike...with their dog...wearing their crocks or berkenstocks(wearing socks)...almost like Negril stateside. There are a few jamaican families who I am quickly becoming aquainted with. 2 island type food stores. It is coming along....but slowly.

:lol::jest::oops:

I HATE ALL, EVERY ANY bugs..can't stand them can't look at them nothing. I am afraid of ROACHES..seriouly..my husband thinks i'm pathetic. I can watch they just can't be near me...although they still make my skin crawl..

:lol: I am scared of Roaches too!! It really doesn't matter what kind of bug it is I'm scared of them all :crying:

I remember the first time I stayed in yard, I needed to use the bathroom.... Neil said let me go check it out first.

The went in there and came back and asked me if I was scared of BATS :blink: All I could think was #######?? Bats in the house?? Oh lawd I can't stay here! But I had to go something wicked! He said come here and look.. I tiptoed to the bathroom and peeked in... What I seen wasn't no bats, they were moths :lol: All I could do is laugh at him and tell that those weren't bats and explain to him what a bats in the states look like... But none the less I'm scared of those too so he had to run them out.

On my last trip there, he had left to go to the cook shop (it was night time) when he opened the door to leave some kind of huge flying bug with green eyes flew in. You talk aboout scared... Boy I wanted to cry!! I stayed totally under the cover sweating too death until he came back! Of course he thought that was funny too :angry:

OMG!! LOL That Is TOO DYAM FUNNY!!! :lol::lol: . Happy to know that I am not the only one that will freak out in a moments notice if one of those things comes my way!! Just picturing you under the covers sweating you butt off waiting for your hero to come back and kill the bug, has me crying...because that would definately be something I would do! :lol::lol: -Thanks for the chuckle

Bless, (L) -Gill

Girl I laugh at it too now... But I tell yuh I wanted to CRY!!! He came back and thought it was funny!! Yuh nuh mi cuss im sumting wicked don't you!

One more laugh for you... About 6 yrs ago I was at work, driving the city bus. Looked up over my head for whatever reason, and saw a big a** roach looking like it was gonna jump down on me. All this while I was turning a corner.

I almost jumped the curve trying to keep my eye on it and turn at the same time. Once I made the corner I pulled over, called the dispather and told them I couldn't and wouldn't drive that bus because it had roaches! We went back and forth for awhile, but in the end I won the fight... And they sent be out a new bus.

I cann blame yuh a ras!! Dem lucky yuh still manage fi turn the corner. If it were me all yuh seeing on the 6 O'Clock news "Bus Driver crashes into store front, last seen running screaming from the bus...details at 11!" :blush::lol: I'm not kidding when mi seh I HATE THEM!Gill

Its a good place to raise a family....a likkle bit of city and a likkle bit of country. Housing prices are higher in the city..450-550,000 3 bed-2.5bath home...but going out to the suburbs you can get the same size newer home for 200-350,000. I do miss the culture as it had been pretty much white bread up until reciently. Now we have (as in much of the country) a very large hispanic culture and african as well. Now just to work on the WI peeps!!! LOL

Here is the thing about that country 3 hours away.....I could call Japan cheaper then I could call Jamaica. I was like WTH???????????????

Not to mention that the JA govt decided to charge an additional 3 cents per minute for your call. I thought it was ridiculous that not only am I paying here to make my calls, but I am paying the JA govt for my family to answer my call in JA. :angry: I tell hubby everyday, I can't wait for him to be here so that I can stop using the calling card. We still have to use it since his parents are still there, but it won't be as often as every night. At least with my Dad he has Netspeak so I am calling a Florida number.

Hey Marlita,

They typically have it in West Indian Grocery markets. I'm not to sure what the Jamaican community is like in Cali. But wherever you find a large amount of J'cans or West Indians...you will probably find a grocery market and Ackee within it!

Or you can order it online at:

You may want to try: http://www.wifglobal.com/Ackee.htm ($11 per can) or http://www.jamaicastores.com/cart.php?

act=cart (10.00 per can).

Good Luck,

Gill

Back in the day, you could only find Ackee in the Jamaican stores under the shelf or there were people who had ackee trees in their back yard here in South Florida. Now that the FDA gave the okay, it is sold in the major supermarkets in South Florida (Publix and Winn Dixie). Of course the price is between $12 - 15 depending on the brand you're buying.

I was so freaked out after that cause Evan was acting completely obsessed and he never cares about bugs or what not. Needless to say I kept a rug by the gap under our front door so no more forty-legs could get through.

Ok, just your story alone has me creeped out!! What deh Ras is a 40 legs? You know what forget it... I don't think I EVEN want to know! :lol: YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!! They always come around and RUIN everything! Poor guy can't even enjoy a bowl of cereal! :no:

Yuh Dyam Right JG!!! I figured out that I have spent over $7000 since December 2006 on my cell phone bill in calls to JA. And don't think I didn't include ALL 200 pages as my proof of relationship with my initial filing!!! <Surrrps> :no: It had to count for something!

:o Wow. That's a LOT of money. What sucks is that you could have made about 10 trips down there instead! I added up all my used up phone cards one time - the amount made me sick! I would have rather not talked to each other for 3 weeks and just gone to see each other in person for a long weekend. Of course, I was out of vacation time at work :whistle:

Can I vent for a minute

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF COOKING..DUMPLIN, RICE, CHICKEN (CURRY,STEWED, BAKED,BBQ), FISH SHRIMP, CABBAGE AND CALALOO EVERY FREAKING WEEK..I WANT A CHANGE :bonk::crying::ranting: and he doesn't want to try any other dish..like Italian or anything ..he's driving me nuts and I LOVE pasta

My solution to your problem is that I didn't know how to cook JA food! So unless Tony wanted to cook EVERY single day, he had to try other foods. Luckily, he likes a lot of other stuff now. He loves pasta - one of my favorites also. For dinner last night I made hot dogs and macaroni & cheese :lol: He ate it without a single complaint :luv: Here's a tip - does he like Chinese food? We started with that because it's sorta similar to JA food - chicken and rice, etc.. Or what about Thai food? You're just gonna have to quit spoiling him so much :P
